Baseball cards are stuffed between book pages and magazines that are later found. Pristine N64 games require a great deal more care to keep in good condition. So for pristine N64 games to remain hidden for another 100 years, knowing that they sold for over a million dollars a hundred years ago, is unlikely.

The population of sealed graded games, of where they are at right now, across all systems N64 and earlier, won’t change by much over time. Might even be able to push that to Ps2/xbox gen too. I think Xbox360 and later will grow a little higher. I can still get a sealed Witcher 2 first print for under a hundred bucks.

I do believe many games are still out there unfound or just in possession of people who have enough money to not care. Heck lower condition ones are posted semi often for n64. But really mint coveted ones i think will be uncommon for finds. However i do think we still have a good few families out there that haven't checked out crazy grandpas attic in awhile and they might stumble upon a case or two of coveted NES, SNES, n64, etc games. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

On the later gen topic man I've been itching that buying scratch lately with them. Many games I forgot I loved for the ps3/xbox 360 that I've been buying for cheap in good sealed condition. Bit of solace from the 2000-100,000 dollar game listings for vintage 😄

  2. April 14th my speedrun order was placed, received the 22nd of April, been in post grading for 3 months, around early June I think.

Was a GameCube game and I’ve heard they’ve had trouble with that size recently but I didn’t expect 15 business days to stretch to 5 months lol.

seems the game has doubled in value over the last 5 months so you bet I’m gonna be hearing about an extra charge 🤣

Anyone get grades/games lately? Wondering what the current turn time is.

I'd ballpark and say somewhere around 2-3 months until its in hand if you use speedrun. They got a game from me on 4/20 *ha* and it's still in grading and i dont expect a grade until late this month/early june. My last speedrun they got from me on march 5th didnt actually get in hand to me until around 40 business days and that was before they changed their estimates by over double.

Turbo is in the shadow realm for about 6-9 months probably. That may start changing with them getting rid of warp pipe for now but i doubt it'd change much.

  4. I don't really see the problem with that being graded separately, personally. Much like i wouldn't have an issue with a Mario Kart Double Dash being separated from a Mario kart Gamecube console bundle for example. Depends on what you value i suppose but it is it's own individual sealed game so it would make sense to grade it as such while noting it's origin.

The good thing about the hobby is that everybody likes different things/specifics so I'm sure sealed sets in their original condition will continue to exist, even if in lesser numbers in the end.

  5. So - first off imo VGA arguably grades seals harsher because they view the game box and seal as one. Deep spiritual stuff.

I would say a wata A++ seal is probably comparable to a pristine condition seal in VGA's eyes but because they include it in the total grade i'd make the assumption they grade it a tad more harshly. Completely unknown just my guess.

That being said, a well sealed game can still be garbage to a higher end collectors eyes because things like smashing with cardboard boxed games, weight laying on a game over time leaving indents on hard cases etc. You can easily have a good seal with no holes and a non pristine game within it that grades a 60 VGA/6.5 wata etc.

If you have a hard cased sealed game with light scuffs, no indents, no holes, no rough spots from rubbing etc you probably have an 80-90 VGA game obviously heavily varying case by case. But in my humble opinion unless you're doing it for you or you're confident a hard cased game will score high and is actually worth getting graded because the title is sought after i'd pass on it. Newer + hard cases = more likely/necessary to be high grade.

So it does exist.  Just really rare.  I wonder if there is any game that truly does not have a single sealed copy in existence.  Is that even possible?

I would assume many games/sealed games/items that are impossible to find are funny enough just sitting in some older guys basement in a box or an attic or a storage locker they never look through.

Just like the 600k mario, some guy just kinda bought it and left it unopened and here we are. We've all done it, buy a game put it up and oh i never opened it and its been x years.

I will be surprised to discover there are hundreds of sealed PS1 Resident Evil Long Box games getting graded. I've been searching for one of those for two decades and have never found a single sealed copy. Found quite a few nice CIB but never any sealed. If anyone on VGS has actually seen one of these White Buffalos, please let me know.

That is an intense one huh. Even price charting only has 2 sold in 2017 and it sold for 2500 even then lol. Didn't realize how rare it actually was.

Been considering seeking out a starcraft 64 sealed, of course that one seems relatively uncommon as well. maybe a couple pop up a year?

Going to be interesting to see the population reports when they inevitably drop one of these years. Annoys me that they haven't released them yet, the reasoning i've heard is grading is generally front loaded and it will make certain rarer games seem more common when compared to actually more common games just because the numbers are smaller.

Which sure, i guess. But when people are throwing 30-40 grand at pristine ocarina of time copies i just think it's ridiculous they can't know if 10 of those currently exist or 200 because cases upon cases are sitting around. Even if a pop report is too early i think it's necessary with the money involved. I suppose that's people just blowing wads of cash without knowledge though which is, something.

  8. Oof. Guess the game they received from me april 20th speedrun won't be returning for awhile.

Honestly they should do a psa esque shutdown because paying 100 dollars + shipping + potential after the fact valuation changes to get a game graded that will now likely take 4 months until it's in hand is a bit ridiculous. They have to be majorly backed up

I also have various other non-games items sealed. I have about 5 or 6 Sealed M.U.S.C.L.E men garbage cans, about 5 or 6 of the hangtab versions sealed, a whole box of 15th Series Garbage Pail kids, every package sealed (gum and all). Those arent going to go for astronomical numbers but I've been thinking about parting with them.

now is probably the time for the garbage pail heard those are getting a big jump lately.

haha I dont have a sealed Punchout but I have more games to grade including:

    Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3 (yellow stripe with no text, not sure how much rarer those are?)
    Mega Man 4
    Mega Man 5
    Mega Man 6
    Super Mario 3 (x2)
    Rad Racer
Blades of Steel (Earlier version, Black Seal)
    Pacman Namco
    Karate Champ
    Star Wars (JVC)
    TMNT
    TMNT 2
    Superman
    Life Force
    Gradius

Theres more but thats some of the main ones I have.

Just to clarify I was making a joke from the most recent wata appearance on pawn stars ha, with the way the Mario markets shaking up I could probably afford a 1.5 cib last production. Wild stuff.

pretty solid list though been recently going through my stuff and sending it off.

  11. 1) What a good problem to have, congrats on the grade. 😁

    2) while I don’t personally like the high up charge, I can see the point of view. Whether or not it’s completely justified I don’t know but as others have stated it is mentioned on site.

Unfortunately if you do choose to sell your jacuzzi full of money will be just slightly emptier.

    solid score, though.

  12. Look what has returned

I can't imagine asking any amount of money period for this thing and keeping a straight face. I feel like the only prospective buyers would be people who literally dont check the pictures at all and just hit buy it now.

Sorry Swamp Thing, that games a dud now.
