Looks real and it's just sun faded.

It's a variant box and manual. Matching manual is missing the "U/" in the product code and it's printed in Japan, same for the box. Box comes with a white cardboard tray instead of the usual built-in cart holder.

There's a variant like this for Super Smash Bros. too and possibly one for Mario Party 2 (I really believe I saw it).

I had one at some point and posted it back on Nintendo Age in 2015 and nobody cared 😂

THANK YOU SO MUCH. The owner is joining soon and will probs have more questions lol.

  2. Hello!

A good friend won a Mario Party 3 recently. Several of us have noticed small differences when comparing it to another legitimate box. (pics provide)

    - Color is slightly different and text on back too. Its not off in a way repro usually is.

    - Color isn't full off, slightly "paler". very faint but noticed, especially back red strip.

    - Major thing is it doesn't have built in tray like all the others.

    - feel and touch is authentic

I'm thinking its a repro (very good one) due to the things mentioned about but others (deemed to be quite knowledgeable) claim it is legit and a rare "variant". I was possibly thinking misprint or error but a double whammy without a tray just makes it harder to believe.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If more pics are needed, please let me know and I can provide.

    Thanks!

  3. Hello, I am wondering if there is any sort of database regarding store signs, game promos, game standees and such? I purchased a lot of display signs and boxes but can't find any info regarding any of them. For instance, I have a big Gex 64 standee that I thought would be common but can't find info on that one either. Looking for info more than just value on these items but scarce info. Thanks! No pics at the moment as the lot was pretty rough and currently working in them.

I've got some more free Dragon Quest stuff.  Whoever wants it post here to "claim" it, and send me a pm with your address.  US & Canada only.  And PLEASE only take this if you're an actual fan of the series, not so you can flip the sofubi's 🙂

I haven't played Hybrid Heaven since it originally came out, but I remember it had some pretty innovative stuff going on.  Given how RPG-starved the N64 is, it's surprising that Hybrid Heaven is still so overlooked ( especially when you have middling to bad RPGs like Quest 64 that still have a decent reputation, granted Quest is probably a bit more accessible ).  Aidyn Chronicles, technical issues aside, is also another forgotten RPG worth checking out.

The Castlevanias for the 64 are great.  They do a good job of blending different action/adventure/survival horror elements.  I think it's only in recent years, largely due to the AVGN review, that people have soured on CV64.  Well, that and the obvious criticism of not being exactly like the 2D games ( it does lean more towards the slower, exploration side of things at times ).

I was amazed by the 5 minute movie intro. I haven't seen the a game do that growing up. I was imagining how even more mind blowing the N64 for would've been for me if Hybrid Heaven was my first game with it. I've played some Quest64, I find it repetitive hence why I haven't finished yet. Thanks for the suggestion on the game. I will start looking for it! Im looking forward to the blend of genre in CV

  6. Hey, new to forum and collecting. Starting and working on a N64 collection. My collection is minimal so looking really for anything to get it going. Don't mind loose or boxed but primarily loose since collecting on a budget. Singles or lots, whatever genres, just looking for games and a deal. Thanks and let me know!

  7. Hey, I'm Rage from Canada. Close to my 30s. Video games were a pillar in my life growing up and still are due to the nostalgia it brings. I wouldn't say I'm in any way any sort of expert as I am slowly learning on my own about this hobby. Hence, decided to start building my library and collecting to preserve, play and maybe past it on to future generations due to my appreciation for it. I play rather than storing games for display which I think is my favorite part. Discovering a game that I've never played before that I end up really enjoying or replaying a game drastically differnet then I did as a kid. (Ex. Star Fox, I didn't even know there where a "expert" path till I recently played it again.) Im collecting for N64 and Sega Genesis with a focus right now on N64 full NTSC + 4 PAL exclusives (loose or CIB/no preference) set. Been actively collecting for a year, solo journey without much involvement with any community online till now. Getting to the part of the collecting where I could use some help, as in tips/tricks, trades, sells or advice. Been lurking for a while already. Thanks!
