shadowfire36 | 1 Posted August 11, 2020 Share Posted August 11, 2020 does anyone have a Guide for a DIY cart.. im not sure what kind of chips and programmer i would need for an N64 ..all the guides i find have programmers and you can no longer buy ...so i need a 2020 covid method that does not include the RETROBLASTER PROGRAMMER or the Nintendo 64 PCB Board Programmer??? TylerBarnes | 184 Posted August 12, 2020 Share Posted August 12, 2020 (edited) Are you trying to roll your own PCB's or make use of donor carts and solder in your own PROM chips? From what I understand the mask rom pinouts were made custom for Nintendo and there is no easy equivalent that I am aware of. I'm guessing they did this as an anti-piracy measure since NES and SNES repros became so easy when their pinouts were so close to commercial PROM pinouts.
