Also could have used less of that Robby guy who posted in the thread earlier. There's no place in video game investing for guys like him. What's his collection worth? $20-$30k topps? It's not even graded and he doesn't even have to keep it locked away in a vault. Definitely nothing to be jealous of. Not like my hero the dentist. I mean. He didn't even pay top dollar for it at Heritage Auctions. He went to places like flea markets and garage sales and got deals. Can you imagine? Yuck! If you're not paying a 20% buyers' premium on top of current market prices then you're doing it wrong!

  3. Hey all,

I am nearing completion of my loose NES licensed NTSC-U set and Power Blade 2 is one that still eludes me.

If you have it, please let me know.  I would prefer that it be nice shape.  I have plenty to trade or can just pay via PayPal.

Let me know and thank you!

To be clear as long as the manual has the NES TM it does match with "first print" box and cart. They just updated the manual without changing the box or cart

That's great to know.  I plan on sending this game to WATA as a keepsake.  The Legend of Zelda is my favorite game of all-time and I wanted to get a first print of it graded.  It won't grade well, but that doesn't really matter to me.

Thanks for all of the help! 😄

You just made me realise mine is not actually a first print like I thought it was. It has no game code on the front cover and no date code on the last page but it does have Game Pak on page 11.

Yep.. I know exactly what you mean.  I bought a CIB first print copy of the game and found out a few months later that the manual was actually the second print.  Fun fun.. 😄

  6. Hey all!

I am looking for a legit first print manual for The Legend of Zelda on NES.

It does not need to be in mint condition but I would like for it to be complete and in very good to excellent condition.  The nicer the manual, the more I would be willing to pay.

For those who aren't sure which version they have, the best identifier is on Page 11 of the manual.   A first print manual will say "When you load the cassette".  Every other printing of the manual will say "When you load the Game Pak".

Please feel free to send me a private message and thanks!

  7. Hey all!

I have recently come into a small lot of very nice NES boxes, some with manuals.  I am working on completing each of these games and am looking for some help.

Here is the current list of what I am looking for:

    Game Cart Manual
    720 X
Blades of Steel   (White Oval SOQ) X
    Cobra Triangle X X
Crash 'N' The Boys Street Challenge X
    Danny Sullivan's Indy Heat X X
    Gyruss X
    Ikari III The Rescue X
    Jackal    (Black Circle SOQ) X
    Laser Invasion X X
    Michael Andretti's World GP X
    Ninja Gaiden X
    North and South X X
    Roger Clemens MVP Baseball X
    Silent Service X
Skate or Die    (Black Circle SOQ) X
    Tecmo NBA Basketball X X
    Tecmo Super Bowl X X
Top Gun: The Second Mission X

From what I can tell, there aren't any major variants for these games other than the three I have specified in the list.  I do want these carts to be as close to mint condition as possible.

Finally, I am looking NES inserts to go along with these games.  I am happy to discuss what I am looking for via DM, so don't hesitate to send me a message.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.  I have worked with a couple of people here, so I can provide references from VGS.  I have also been on ebay for over twenty years (paperback.writer) with 450+ positive feedback.

  8. Hey everybody!

I just wanted to take a minute to say hello.  I am former collector based in Michigan who has, in the past year, gotten back into the hobby.   I was buying / selling / trading games in the mid-90's through the Usenet, then wound up working at FuncoLand during the launch of the first PlayStation.  During that time, I amassed a pretty great collection that focused mostly on NES, SNES, TurboGrafx, SegaCD, Saturn, and NeoGeo AES.  So, needless to say, it's been pretty expensive getting back into it.

My current collecting goals are to not super centralized.  The one clearly defined thing I am working on is a loose US NTSC NES cart set.  I am currently at 560+ but am missing most of the hardest-to-find games.  I attribute that mostly to my trying to pick up as many of the games as I can locally.  I think I have finally gotten to the point where I am going to have to start really leaning on ebay, Instagram and other online resources, so don't be surprised if you see me trying to pick up some of the more expensive games I am missing from the Selling forum.

Otherwise, I am working on picking up most of what I had when I was younger, as well as games that I never got a chance to play back in the day.  But, again, most of my focus remains on the consoles I specified above.

I am also a fan of mid-to-late '90's PC gaming, and have recently built a few "period pieces" to play DOS, Win9x, and WinXP games.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello.  I always lurked around NintendoAge but was fairly disconnected from the scene until last January.  If anyone is interested, I started an Instagram account so I can plug in with other collectors.   You can find it here.

Thanks and have a great day!
