With Telefoot and RTL they both have different title screens, and boot-up in their respective languages. I think other than that they are the same as Michael Owen WLS. I figure the title screen difference makes them SLIGHTLY more significant than other regional differences on the N64, such as Yannick Noah All-star Tennis 99, which is just a label difference.

As for Pokemon Stadium 1 JPN, well it's MASSIVELY trimmed compared to the second game, it's not just fewer pokemon. There are only two game modes, as opposed to the dozens of different modes in the second, no mini games or anything like that, and the whole menu system is super stripped back, it's a real bare-bones experience!

Just wondering with the first Pokémon stadium, even though it is a stripped down version, is there actually different content? If the second one contains everything the first one did but with more stuff, then it could be considered almost like an upgrade. If they have different content then some might view it as a different game (where you’d have to have both to have a “complete collection”).

Thanks for the information about Telefoot. I had always wondered about what that version was like 🙂

  2. I’m missing the Telefoot one!

I know the Mia Hamm vs. Michael Owens difference, but how do the other two differ? (Is it just the language and the screen options?). I’m curious!

at one point I was trying to buy all of the different fifa games from different regions because the cover shows a different soccer player depending on the regions player popularity, which is pretty cool. I think I ended up with about 4 before I stopped as trying to get each version internationally was getting expensive 😆

I have to admit, I’m a bit lazy with going through some games I purchased years back (especially sports games). Although I could always have just checked how the German version of RTL and the first JPN Pokémon Stadium differ to other regions, I end up just going with what I reas about the difference online😅. I’ll go with your word and count all three Pokémon stadium games as being seperate releases!

  3. nice list!

I found counting regional variants/slight changes in games as constituting a different exclusive game needed to ‘complete’ a collection is a seriously slippery slope.

mario/wave race vs. their Japanese rumble pack editions

HSV Adventure Racing Vs Beetle Adventure Racing

    Mia Hamm vs. Michael Owens

Japan has three Pokémon stadium games- the first one was essentially an earlier version of the first game with less  Pokémon. If you wanted one of each n64 ever released from all regions do you need three Pokémon stadium games or just two and count the earliest version from Japan as an early version of the second?

There is also a driving game (I can’t remember which one it was) that was released later in Japan but contained added content (track/weather conditions) to the other regions.

  4. Apparently I paid 49.99USD (plus 22.74USD postage).

The listing in the email is old and there are no longer images to it (the listing title was: JOHNNY LIGHTNING RACINGDREAMS GAMES Nintendo 64 Zelda Mario 1/64 Die Cast Cars). To the best of my recollection i think I got all four from that auction, however I can’t rule out the possibility this may have just been for the zelda and Mario cars and I somehow got the other two separately in another listing (it was so long ago, I’m not certain). Hope that helps!

  5. I was curious and looked at my past emails to work out when and where I got them. How time flies! It was actually almost 10 years ago (2013) I got them on eBay. I actually got them from the US (I’m based in Australia) so not even the high postage costs detracted me from getting these! I love how there is a little description of each game at the back. Nothing will ever beat the n64-era related toys 😢

  6. Are these the ones?

I’ve got 4 - zelda, Mario, yoshi and star fox.  Not sure how many different ones there are, but they look awesome and also curious to know. I would have gotten these only about 5-7 years ago on eBay. Thought they looked cool when I saw them and had to add them to my collection.

  7. Hey everyone,

I recently created a second profile on my Instagram that focuses on my n64 collection. Thing is, I am finding for some posts that I hashtag, when I search them using the hashtag they are invisible.

my profile is public, and often the images are searchable via their hashtags briefly, but then are not searchable. I have vaguely heard that Instagram can invisibly ban an image if it is too spammy etc, but I don’t think this is the reason as I am careful to be quite specific with the posts. I also hear if you excessively like everything it might invisibly ban an image (or something of that nature), but I don’t think I like that many images to cause an issue.

As an example, my account is “retro.n64” - Instagram seems to keep having problems with my two images of my conker adventure book (savingprivateconker). I also found my image of my Zelda postcard is not searchable with the hashtags.

Does anyone have any suggestions what might be happening? The images are all mine and I haven’t received any warnings etc saying there is anything wrong with my posts.

Any help is greatly appreciated 🙂

  8. Greetings all!

I used to be a member of NintendoAge but after a long break and feeling the need to start getting back into the collector community, I found the website no longer exists😢

I hear Videogamesage is where many old NintendoAgers migrated to, so thought I’d join here instead.

I reside in Sydney, Australia. My particular interests are with the n64 (I completed a full CIB set of all games from all regions years ago), and at the moment I’m just hoping to get back into perhaps buying more random n64 to make my collection even better. I was especially on the look out for good Japanese n64 plastic protectors. I’ll make a thread about it later, but there used to be a guy (Jim pol? Someone) from NA who made awesome protectors, but he seems to not have a website anymore.

looking forward to chatting with you all!

    cheers,

    Jamie
