Not a surprise, but hey interestingly enough since that's being used as an example.  Did you know it got a re-release/expansion of design of sorts for it and released to mobile devices?  I grabbed it on a preorder and played it for like a month.  I only stopped because i couldn't get enough time to invest in that around 2-3 other phone games I have as it is now.  It's amazing on mobile, all what the 3DS version had and then some done in a non-exploitative/whaling cringe style game.

Thanks for this info.  Fantasy Life has been on my radar for years but there are a lot of 3DS games ahead of it on my list.  I might check out the mobile version first as a demo of sorts to see if I like it before making a purchase of the 3DS version.

First of all, welcome to VGS!!!

I think the answer to your question depends on what you want, really. If you think you will be satisfied with CIB and not consider them as somehow deficient because they are not also sealed, then I see no reason NOT to have the CIB's graded. After all, if you already have the games, getting them graded is a good idea to save money compared to buying them already graded at a huge premium. So, if you WANT to have them graded, then the answer is YES.

However, if you are asking in a more general sense, SHOULD someone grade CIB games, in order to, maybe legitimise their collection, or appeal to a higher standard of collecting? Well, NO is my answer. You should base your collection aims and desires on what you personally want, and your own personal standard.

I think people are NUTS to spend that much money on graded games, CIB's in particular. I like to collect the old fashioned way. But, if it makes you happy, then yeah, go for it, why not, eh?

This post says anything I would have said...go with what makes you happy.

  3. WTB the following:

    Consoles:

NES Console (x1 for me):  CIB

    Handheld Systems:

Gameboy Advance SP Handheld AGS-101 Model (x2 for me and son):  New preferred but probably out of my price range so Minty CIB is fine too...

PSP (x2 for both sons):  New preferred but will consider Minty CIB

    PS Vita Games:

    God of War Collection:  New

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection:  New

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus:  New preferred but will consider Minty CIB

Couldn't you just do a back swap on it?  I can't imagine the back label is a rare one.  It's not like the copy of Overlord I have with the same problem, where the only cart with that particular back is Overlord 😛

Ya know, that never even occurred to me but that is a viable solution.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll keep it in mind in the future if I run into similar issues.  For now though I am going to go ahead and purchase the fellow board member's copy.

I’m not well informed on comic and baseball card collecting but I would think maybe there are similarities we can look at.

Besides the key issues like Superman, Batman etc. surely no one is paying say $1000 for an Archie comic or the thousands of other comics released in the 50’s.

Same with baseball cards, I’m sure a Babe Ruth would still command a high price but I’m guessing the majority of other cards from that era aren’t worth as much.

That’s what I think will happen to NES games. Key franchises will probably still get good money but the majority of it will drop as people approach retirement.

Can't speak for sports cards but people are paying $1000s of dollars for comics outside of titles/characters the general public thinks of when comics are mentioned.

  6. Hi,

Are there any comprehensive console release lists anywhere?  The only one I am seeing on the Big List of Lists Thread is for the SNES.  Priority for me right now is for the NES as I need to replace mine and would like to finally get a nice, CIB one but am interested in all consoles ultimately.

  7. Hi,

I'm looking for a Yellow Label Metroid Cart for the NES to replace a damaged one for my son.  I bought him a CIB copy for x-mas but one of the tabs on the top of the cart was broken and we've had mixed results getting the game to play (might be my NES itself there though that is the issue).  Anyways I would like a very clean, pretty copy to replace it with.  Thanks for reading.
