Site Rules

The free for all has been fun, but in order to keep VGS a positive place for all gamers and collectors we need some guidelines to go by.

Please take a few minutes to review the "Site Rules" section we've created. https://www.videogamesage.com/site-rules/

We have gone over these rules more than a few times and we've kept it as simple as possible to ensure that VGS is a fun and great place to be and hang out.

We are open to hear your suggestions and concerns. Please keep in mind these rules were put together for a community and not everything will be a one size fits all.

Thanks!

Can we post information / pictures of adult video games? Must we sensor them out or are we able to post a NSFW tag and post in general? I'm not aiming to post hardcore porn or anything, but in my region, a lot of 18+ games exist, and sometimes they are relevant to console gaming, documentation, etc.

About illegal items: is it still ok to sell old bootleg carts and what not, just like how it was on Nintendo Age? Not talking about 1:1 repros , rather old pirates coming out of Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc back in the day.

I think this was aimed more towards latest to current gen modded consoles for free games and flashcarts, copied media and of course 1:1 repros. more so than old bootleg/pirates

Probably a good rule of thumb, if you can't sell it on eBay, you shouldn't sell it here. As for the adult games, you mean like Bubble Bath Babes or M for Mature? I think the pirate games from the places you outlined shouldn't be a problem. Let me discuss with the VGS team for a final answer and we'll add the details if needed.

The Auctions section doesn't mention the rules for BINs, I imagine it's safe to say that a "I'll BIN for $50" reply counts as a "bid" and all other aspects fall under the rules outlined in the thread by the seller?

Also, do threads like "Guess the Cart" count as a raffle? Or is something only a "raffle" if the winner is chosen at random?

1.)  Yes, BINs use the same rules.  If an auction has a BIN element and someone says they want to Buy it Now, then obviously they have the winning bid - typically there hasn't really been any confusion that I've seen on this front - but if you have other questions about it, let us know.

2.)  Raffles would be, for example, members having to pay money for a chance to win something.  If someone is doing a game or a contest, and giving something away for free, including choosing a winner at random, that is fine - it is just a game giveaway.  When we refer to raffles, we are talking about the 'gambling' type, where someone pays a fee for a chance to get something.  This would include a standard raffle, facebook game-wheel type scenario, etc.  If you have any other questions on what constitutes a raffle, just let us know.

Hope this helps to clarify - but let me know if you have any other questions!

I have an interesting idea I'm stealing from facebook groups, but has anyone ever considered using the discord channel for a live claim and/or fire sale if they want to move some goodies?  Between PC or mobile apps meant for discord it wouldn't be hard to do rapid fire pictures with values, perhaps even a video feed.

That just sounds like a headache.   I've seen similar things, and I have no idea how anybody keeps track of stuff while it's happening.
