Oh boy this is getting insanely OCD now.

And it's too late! These are straight-up label variants. They just happen to not have an incremented revision number. Fist of the North Star and Go Go Tank changed that icon and also the revision number, Tetris and Bill & Ted have variants with no revision number. If those all count, these count too!

@RpgCollector do you have a list of these?

Thanks man. I do need that one. I have quite a few "easies" I've been dragging my heals on and that's a cheap one.

Everyone else, regarding the Game Boy/Game labels, yesterday I finally organized my duplicate carts. Great googly moogly, I have way more carts than I thought. Anyway, at a glance, most carts were consistently one or the other. Also, I didn't do a real comparison but just paying attention to the logo, there does seem to be 4-5 variations fr over the years.

Anyway, I'll try to compare all my copies and see what I can find. Feel free to do the same, but there's no rush.

Well, I hate to disappoint but I posted it on my IG a while ago and forgot to post it here.

Life comes at me in waves and I had a very, very busy three months.

Anyway, here's the results.

Yep...Electrobrain logo 😞

I think I solved the Mouse trap hotel Electrobrain only cart issue. Though it does raise a question why the R release before the TM release? So Electrobrain released this game first for MB. Then MB released it them selves, then Electrobrain again with the -1. This is supported by the date codes on the boxes. Electrobrain first release 20904, MB release 30208 and last -1 Electrobrain 981028. The USA release date was October of 1992, so the Electrobrain box code fits with that.

I don't know how I missed that you posted this.  Is this a check of all your carts looking for Game Link variations.  If so, can you clarify the three catagories?  I'll try to find some time (hopefully) when I can consolidate this and make note of the new variants we've found.

And to everyone else, it was my general goal to catalog primarily label variants, excluding facility and ROM revision stamps.  That said, this is 100% within the bounds of what I'm trying to catalog and manage on this master list.

Wow! Great work 🙂

These date codes are proving themselves really handy. Dear late 1980’s early 1990’s Nintendo Quality Control group: Thank you for making collector lives easier

@RH The list I provide is all my NA collection.  i posted what i thought was of interest, did not do a deep deep dive on this data yet.  hopefully someone else can confirm.

i cant verify all carts a i only have some about 300 that have doubles. but i did check the top dollar cart an they look to be of the standard labels but i have identified about 30 carts of question and that is what the list is about.

Here is a better way to know what your look for.

here you can see the difference between 3 line and 2 line variants.  as it relates to my data.

This is what i see on most game carts

this is what you see on the Infogenius carts

this is what i see on carts that are not following the "norm"  look at Dragon's Lair it's crazy

How did you get those nice pictures? Haha they spelled original incorrectly. I was going to put a list together of the games with the multiplayer logos to at least get an idea of how many could have the 2 or 3 line difference. There should be a upper limit as well based off the release date of the latest released found example of the 3 line variant.

I think these are the highest potential games to have the 2-player logo variant without a Rev change.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BlqASf-W93zDoEvqC7lIk23lnSoJwP7I6KE5-EzHL8c/edit?usp=sharing

Go! Go! Tank in May '91, while kind of an anomaly, was the last example I could find of the older 3 line logo

The second last example of the 3 line logo, Dr. Mario in Dec '90, also has the updated 2 line logo in its initial release (Rev 0)

It's probably safe to assume that for Pinball Revenge of the Gator Rev 0 probably never received the update, since Rev 1 also has the old logo. It could be that Rev 1 received the update.

Similarly with Side Pocket, BurgerTime Deluxe, Jeopardy!, Blades of Steel, Tecmo Bowl, Trax, and Double Dribble: 5 on 5, there is probably no 3 line logo for the Rev 1 since the change was already made in Rev 0.

So far my count is at 4 for logo updates without Rev changes

Motocross Maniacs, Malibu Beach Volleyball, NFL Football, and Dr. Mario

It's not to say that there couldn't be other weird examples outside this window, I just wanted to focus on the higher potential games initially.

Also Just a note, the player's choice releases do not have the logo present.
