fcgamer 1,713 Member ·
Some of us may have the problem, too many games, not enough space. So some choices are double-stacking items on the shelf, i.e. a row of stuff and then a row behind it. If you have deep shelves, generally you can fit two rows. Then there's the alternative of just putting everything in totes, and putting it wherever, in the corner, in storage, etc. So which do you think is worse, and why? Dr. Morbis 621 Member ·
Totes are worse because, at that point, your games are basically in storage... Edited February 13 by Dr. Morbis
DefaultGen 1,870 Member ·
At least double stacked you can put your good stuff up front.
Hammerfestus 1,073 Member ·
I’ve got the totes. Doing it feels like having to take old yeller out back and put him down. Except you keep the remains — in a tote, in your basement. 2 5

nrslam 195 Member ·
I'll vote for totes as the better way to go. I can't possibly have everything setup or on display at once, so I rotate systems in and out. If I want to play TG16, I grab that tote and spend 15 minutes setting it up. Wanna switch to the Jaguar? Put the Turbografx back in its tote and grab the Jag tote. And so on.
Tulpa 1,611 Member ·
Totes that can fit on the shelves would be great. It's like having drawers of games. Double stacking will get old really fast if you play the games in back enough, and if you don't, how is it any better than storing them elsewhere? You're blocking them from display by the games in front.
croagunk 420 Member ·
I think using totes is worse. I double stack my games but it isn’t much of a hassle because I keep track of where certain games are in the back row.
drxandy 1,412 Member ·
With double stacking at least they are somewhat accessable, I am sad to have like 30% of my collection displayed and the rest in boxes. It's only because we are in an apartment now, no point in buying shelving yet. Once I have house space it's onnnnn. Edited February 13 by drxandy

Reed Rothchild 3,897 Editorials Team ·
Since this thread is a thinly-veiled @OptOut's totes vs @fcgamer's stacks and piles... I'll say neither. Gross! 1 2

CMR 208 Member ·
I say double stacked because it lets you see what you've got, but if you're like me you've double stacked and then made another double stack in front of the other double stack. So I guess it doesn't matter.

When I double stack my games I put the filler in the back and the games I love in the front. This at least enables me to see the games I like, putting them in tubs like this I wouldn’t be able to see my favorite games and enjoy why I collect. Obviously that is all my opinion based on why I collect so to each his own. Either way a good solution for some Edited February 13 by a3quit4s

That would work if you had a 50-50 split between favorites and filler, but I don't think most people are like that. But it definitely is a to each their own.

I will admit that there is some filler in the front as well but you get the idea. I guess for me I’d rather be able to at least see some of the games that I spent my wife’s hard earned money on
Tanooki 1,577 Member ·
Well small totes that eat up little extra space where you can get them fast is ideal, keeps the dust and crap out/off of the stuff, second to that would be double stack deep if it's capable of that for storage. But what about double bagging?
