I love the concept of this, it seems like it should be right up my alley. I love vector graphics, I love classic arcade action, I love interesting self-contained elctronic games; but for some reason, I just didn't have much fun when I got my hands one. I think the controls felt awkward to me.

I should mention on the +side, Vectrex is small (for having a built-in display), light, has a carrying handle, and is a complete unit (console, display, controller, even a built-in game) in one box so is the first, and so far only, console I've set up as I move. Not counting handhelds, of course.

Very true the only semi-close analog really would be the Virtual Boy as Mario Tennis was the pack-in so usually it just got left in the slot anyway.  It was self contained, not hard to carry even with the stand attached and controller cable wrapped around it, and ran off batteries if necessary (or using the tap+snes power adapter.)  Nothing really otherwise has been as such, until I guess perhaps the Switch out of the dock considering the detachable controllers, kickstand, and built in games if you rent them that way.

Easily the best pre-crash console. There's something oddly futuristic about it, and playing on one feels out of this world. Try turning off the lights and playing a game of Vectrexagon (homebrew) - One of the most hypnotising video game experiences I've ever had!

Also it inspired my nick all these years ago hahaha. 9/10
