Strange | 1,690
I’m a huge fan of anything Gunpei Yokoi, so I copped the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch as soon as I could. The idea of Nintendo restarting their Game & Watch line with NES titles is appealing to me, and there are a plethora of NES titles they could choose from. Or hell, even Game Boy. Yes, there are a hundred better ways to play these games but the novelty of them is kind of the whole point here. Kid Icarus is in my top 3 NES games without a doubt, so I would be floored to have a Kid Icarus Game & Watch. Dr. Morbis | 2,084
Tecmo Super Bowl would obviously never happen in a million years due to licensing issues, but now that we have the technology to actually put the NES games onto a Game & Watch, I'd like to see Zelda (mostly for the artwork they would put on the box and the game) and maybe Castlevania for the same reason... LutherDestroysTheGond | 690
I've always been partial to overlooked Nintendo NES titles. I think Ice Climber and Wrecking Crew would translate over well. I would also like Nintendo to at least acknowledge that StarTropics exists. I always thought it should've gotten a GBA re-release with other NES titles but this hypothetical Game and Watch line would be a good place to start. Oh yeah, they can't do Goldeneye due to Bond licensing and they can't do any other Rare-made titles either, so really you're asking them to release a mini console with like three good games? HAHAHAHA, yeah, not happening... As for Game & Watch, I really hope they make more, but we know they would only do AAA titles that would sell to the everyman, so the question is: would they want to license out stuff they don't own like Contra, Castlevania, Mega Man, etc, or would it just be Legend of Zelda, Dr. Mario and call it a day? If Sega can get Mickey Mouse for their Mini console, those licenses are definitely in the realm of possibility for Nintendo. It’s like you said though, are they willing to pay for them? Especially when they’ve got a AAA library of their own?
Sumer | 221
A sports pack G&W does sound pretty cool. Ice Hockey, Tecmo Bowl (not Super, since the NFL would not allow that word), and, of course, PUNCH-OUT!!!
Gloves | 11,683 Administrator ·
Not for me, personally. There's zero nostalgia in me for G&W, and the gimmick is not appealing to me.
Bearcat-Doug | 5,104
The Legend of Zelda, especially if it was an Adventure of Link combo.
Tanooki | 4,925
I'd like more, but only in a limited scope I know they'd actually bother with. And that would be Zelda. They'd want to copy but not expand on what they did with Mario. Zelda+Zelda 2+G&W Zelda (though I'd wish/prefer the Nelsonic one as it's more fun/accurate.) Put that with a traditional G&W green shell with the gold metallic face plate again and it would be sweet.

My grandma to this day has a few (a solitaire one, a Yathzee one, a Who Wants to be a Millionaire one...), and back in the day for Christmas I got a Radio Shack blackjack game and one of the Tiger casino games (the poker one). I wouldn't mind finding those on Ebay someday...you know for nostagic/memories and such? Sure I got Everdrive ready GB/GBA/DS but why not have the best of both of these worlds? Castlevania II, Mega Man II and III, Karnov, Gauntlet, Ninja Gaiden 1-3, Double Dragon 1-3, list kind of goes on. A number of them are fairly solid games for segmented LCD weirdness. I still keep a few around. AVGN is a hack, attention seeker dumping on the things. You seriously could do far worse with LCD games than some of them that Tiger put out. ThePhleo | 2,179
In terms of Nintendo IP I’d like the following: Balloon Fight + Clu Clu Land + Ice Climbers + Pinball Donkey Kong + DK Jr + DK3 Zelda + Zelda II Metroid Kid Icarus Id also like these from third parties Ninja Gaiden Trilogy TMNT Trilogy Contra + Super C Castlevania Trilogy Mega Man 1-6 + Rockboard Id also like to see some gameboy counterpart games thrown in these things. Imagine Mega Man 1-6 + Mega Man I - IV in one handheld!
twiztor | 844
i would buy a Zelda G&W and a Metroid G&W for sure, day one. past that, it'd be pick-and-choose, but i dig the idea of a dual screen Donkey Kong one, and it would be tough to turn down a Castlevania one. A combined silver box handheld so it would be some base plastic and silver plate and do just Metroid+Kid Icarus on one, and if the CPU can handle the emulation the GB versions too rounding out just 4 games.
a_profile_name | 230
I'd also love to see Balloon Flight / Ice Climber / Excitebike / Donkey Kong and other games of this nature (arcade-y kind of games you can pick and play for a couple of minutes). koifish | 542
Honestly, I'd rather see actual game and watch games. Not only do I have zero interest in the NES game and watch machines (why would you get a small dedicated device for a tiny handful of NES games?), but more importantly, game and watch games are expensive, and some of them don't have any official re-release or remaster. I would line up to buy some kind of game and watch multi-unit that could play multiple games of its format, say, Zelda/Gold Cliff/Donkey Kong, or DK 3/DK Hockey, or even better, a collection of the colorized tabletop game and watch games. Throw in a headphone jack, volume control, pause function, even sleep mode that lets me preserve battery and my current game status, and I'll throw money at it (assuming they aren't just games that have already gotten releases on GB/GBC/GBA/DS). IMO it's pointless nonsense to waste good plastic on yet another gimmicky way to play super mario bros. I like that game a lot, but seriously? Get a GBA, get a switch, get a DS and run emulators, get a GBC and play SMB Deluxe. There's options, far better ones than this plastic crap.
Dr. Morbis | 2,084
^ From a gaming standpoint, I totally agree with you, but from a collecting standpoint, I couldn't disagree more. If I want to play original G&W games, I'll go buy them and play them; I don't need re-releases. Meanwhile, as a huge NES guy, releasing popular NES games on the G&W format makes them hugely collectable for me. I'll probably never play my SMB G&W that I just bought again (tiny screen, no headphone jack, soft rubber buttons that would soon fall apart, etc) but it looks awesome on my shelf and I LOVE owning it. But hey, that's just me...
T-Pac | 7,468 Graphics Team ·
I'm with @koifish on this one. Something about putting NES games on a Game and Watch feels misplaced, like playing Super Nintendo games on a DMG Gameboy or something. It's definitely a cool idea and a neat collectible, but I can't really get behind it, personally. But if I'm being honest with myself, I'd jump at something like a Bubble Bobble Part 2 Game and Watch. A gimmicky way to play 'unobtainable' games is better than not getting to play them at all. -CasualCart
