DK 71 Member ·
That HAS to be a sticker. Can you take the cut box out of the rental case?
Mega Tank 254 Member ·
The back looks like a Permastruct label and has the same legal language at the bottom. Permatruct labels have a black font though. It could be some other rental label like Quik Play, I think it's what it is called, or some of the other rental sticker brands. EDIT: I completely focused on the title and the pictures. I have no idea what that "First Run" circle on the art is. Edited October 17, 2020 by Mega Tank

No offense, but I’m never satisfied with this sort of filtering/processing. Compression in several portions of the image capture/analysis can lead to so many points of unintended artifacting and ringing. Is it likely that it’s a sticker? Possibly? Does this prove that it’s sticker? No. Is this likely a sticker from what all of us generally know? Probably so! Edited October 16, 2020 by NesQuest
ThePhleo 1,167 Member ·
I’ll admit I’m not an expert on image artifacts or digital forensics. But I think it’s pretty damning evidence! I’d actually love to be proven wrong so I can be motivated to look into how actually *can* do something like this the right way.

ThePhleo 1,167 Member ·
Can you take a higher resolution image? Maybe even scan the thing?
RH 1,387 Member ·
Yeah, that was my guess that it could have been a rescan or something of the box or the art with a sticker on it. If that art was scanned, then it wouldn't appear as a sticker, but who knows.

Bearcat-Doug 2,125 Member ·
The video store up the street from me used to put that same sticker on new movies. I'd say it's either a cut up box with a rental sticker on it or a color copy of one.

8bitsupremacy 86 Member ·
It's just your run-of-the-mill rental store cutbox. I don't see anything more here. Yeah, it's a generic sticker the store probably slapped on everything they rented out. Edited October 21, 2020 by 8bitsupremacy

Like, $3 for your first rental, to bait you in to giving them business and getting a membership, idk.

It was a sticker that they put on new releases of movies and games. It seems like older rentals were $1.99, but new releases were $3 which was why they had that sticker.
