Just stopped by to say we need more of this here. Positivity and community.

edit: and games lol

I am working to get it going 🙂 Would you like to potentially join in?  we played last time and over the course of 5 hours we got 15 people to play as u can see in one of the posts above.

Also, I just purchased a switch and am looking to get into some online play on that sometime in the future.  mix it in on gamenights if folks would want that.

Ok,

For the second time, the biweekly event will be among us!  After this I will let you all choose what we play.  Will it be among us again?  Up to you.

Please feel free to add suggestions to the thread of what YOU would like to see added into the rotation.  This is about coming together and having fun as a community.

I will add the game, date and start time to the title every time it is decided.  This thread will be recycled, hence why it is now pinned to the top.

Next game night is Saturday 10/17 at 6 pm EST and the game is Among Us.

Feel free to come and go as you please.  We will meet up on discord and I will make a channel that will be used for codes etc.

Also, link to the game website in the bolded name if you live under a rock and don't know what among us is 🤣.

Open to everyone, if need be we can rotate out impostors every so often if there are more than 10, but first come first serve on the initial gameplay!

I would recommend adding Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in to the rotation at some point in the future, those are always solid picks for stuff like this. Something like Tetris 99 could be good as well, although I don't know if that has private lobbies or not. If not, any variation of Tetris would be good, and I'm sure there's other puzzle games like Puyo Puyo that could be fun as well.

Oh yeah, and there's also plenty of video game versions of board and card games, stuff like Monopoly or Cards Against Humanity, I could see those being fun. I dunno, it's hard to think of games that support more than 4 players, those are usually pretty hard to come by.

We can always do multiple lobbies and switch out players, we can add an extra voice chat for that if need be and just remove it after the game night, but ya keep 'em coming.  No suggestions will be overlooked, except tetris, that one i will overlook 😏

I mean... Minecraft? Terraria even? I dunno, I'm really trying to think. If 4-player games are alright, there actually is one very good multiplayer game that came out recently called GTFO, however I'm honestly not sure that would be a good pick, since that one's actually pretty damn tough and requires a lot of good coordination and communication. It's essentially a stealth survivor game, wherein you have to navigate through a base full of strange, alien monsters to do certain objectives, and then once the objectives are done you, as the name suggests, get the fuck out. It's basically required to remain stealthy, as you have very, very limited resources at your disposal, and you can easily run out. Here's the Steam page though if that sounds like it could be interesting, there's some trailers there so you can get an idea of what the game is like.

Payday 2 is one I like quite a bit actually, and it's one I have... let's just say many hours in, so it would be fun for me to guide people through that game. In that game, you're essentially a group of 1-4 robbers trying to rob a variety of places, anywhere from small banks to huge casinos and military bases, whilst a metric fuckton of cops and SWAT teams try and stop you. Super fun game that I've been playing since it's release in 2013, it's a really good time if you enjoy the types of games where swarms of enemies are coming at you all at once. Here's the Steam page for that as well if you wanna check that out. It does have quite a lot of DLC, but thankfully the way it works is as long as the host of the lobby owns the heist DLCs, anyone else in the lobby can play them, even if they don't actually own it themselves, and... well, like I said, been playing since 2013, so I own all the DLC 😛 Only $10, and it occasionally goes on sale for super cheap too, I've seen it go for $5 or even 99 cents at some points, and they'll regularly do free-to-play events, wherein the game will be completely free to play for around a week.

I guess something like Dead By Daylight could be fun too. I haven't played that one, but from what I understand, one person plays as a superhuman killer of some kind, while 4 survivors are trapped with the killer, and try to escape from him by doing various tasks. Could be some potential there.

Overcooked and/or Overcooked 2 could also be fun.

Zombie Army Trilogy is a game I enjoy immensely, although it is on the more expensive side. In that, it's essentially a stereotypical zombie game in a world war 2 setting, except the trick is that the primary focus of the gameplay is on snipers, as those are the main weapons at your disposal. So, depending on the difficulty you choose to play at, you have to adjust for stuff like the wind, your breathing, bullet drop, etc. Again, would be super fun if you enjoy the types of games where you have to fight hordes of enemies, as there can be anywhere from dozens to over a hundred zombies at a time in this game. Plus there's various types of special zombies ala Left 4 Dead (Which is another potential one I just thought of, actually. Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 2 could be good ones)

A VERY recent one called Phasmophobia could be fun too, that one seems to be well-received so far. In that, 4 paranormal investigators go to various haunted locations, and their job is to identify what type of paranormal entity is haunting the premises. Not necessarily to exorcise it, but just to figure out what type of entity it is by using the various tools and gadgets at your disposal. Again, could be some potential there.

But yeah, I've really tried to wrack my brain on multiplayer games, and I think that's about all the ones I know of. I certainly don't know of many that are super easy to understand and accessible like Among Us, most of the ones I know of have a level of complexity to them. I think I've just about run dry on suggestions, hopefully these will all give you some ideas.

something I've wanted to do for a very long time now is to play four-player of GBA Mario Bros. and four-player of Zelda 4 Swords. Specifically I want to beat the final hero dungeon with 4 players since I've never done it successfully before. Anybody up for that kind of gaming? I copied my game saves to my PC from my carts, so I'm ready to go on that front.

Oh my god, I completely forgot the Four Swords games existed! I never got the chance to play them, that would be awesome if we could figure out a way to manage that!

I remember years ago using a VBA offshoot that allowed local link cable emulation on one PC. Now I believe they have netplay inside other VBA releases or over retroarch, but I don't know how they work. Anybody have experience with this? We'd probably need to do a test run at some point too.

I always wanted to get into Payday 2, but never had a group to play with. I'd be down to play if we can get a crew together.

Yeah, I'd love to do that. Any excuse to play some more Payday, been awhile since I've played it 🙂 I will say that, for what it's worth, even if you don't have a group to play with, it's still very fun singleplayer. Multiplayer is ideal of course, but it's not at all required. The vast majority of my playtime in that game has been in singleplayer.

Jeeves buys switch

Zeldafreak suggests anything but switch 🤣

Unless payday 2 is on switch

(It's not a very good port though, so don't bother.)

And hey, you asked for suggestions, not Switch suggestions 😛 Besides, correct me if I'm incorrect, but I don't believe Among Us is on Switch!

Just making fun of the situation is all buddy!  But yes, any and all games are welcome.  I just know I don't have any xbox/ps stuff atm, maybe in time if this goes that way, but we will see.  Obviously I am more of a pc/nintender when it comes to online gameplay because that is what i have.  If there is crossplatform play, of course we could do that too.

I'm in the same boat. I do have a PS4, but I haven't played much on it, and I always prefer PC & Nintendo when it comes to multiplayer stuff.

Goldeneye: Source my good man

https://geshl2.com

Haven't played this in years, was a great creation.

Another team has recently been working on remaking Goldeneye in Unreal 4, however they got a C&D. Fortunately, they seem to have known that someone would come after them for the tangled licensing of that game (in this case, MGM) and so they immediately announced they would be stripping all the bond elements out and releasing anyway. I'm looking forward to it. Hoping also that they add VR support. I think Goldeneye and Perfect Dark would be perfect games to remake in VR.
