Have been really busy getting ready for Chinese New Year, so I haven't been out much to buy much, aside from the meager find above, which I got when stopping by to visit a friend.

Tonight I met up with one of my reseller contacts, and I bought a ton of stuff from him, honestly too much, but some I bought to help a few others out, and what not.

I won't post everything but some highlights include a Rockman poster, some old Street Fighter stickers, and a Taiwanense 3DO, brand new.

For that latter object, honestly @OptOut and I are a bad influence on each other 😄 He recently found (and then modded) a 3DO, and my contact had been trying to get me to buy a 3DO for months. I mentioned it to OptOut, and he asked which model it was, the price, etc, and then I ultimately decided to grab it, after chatting with him.

Actually I'm rather grateful for it, as this is the Taiwanense version, and everything is localised in Traditional Chinese characters, which is quite up my alley.

Is this an homage to Bubble Bobble?

Yeah they did a Rockman one too, probably some other popular franchises back in the day.

Basically the same idea as the Tiger LCDs, I guess, only likely done without proper licensing of the characters.

I don't remember if I posted any pictures of this particular game hack earlier or not, as I was first introduced to it on a multicart.

The game is Silkworm, but you can see it has been hacked a bit. It seems to have been hacked around 2003.

This is a modernish game cartridge, though considering how recent this game hack was made, this could possibly be the only single cart release of the game hack, I honestly don't know.

I ordered this about six months or so ago from Russia, it finally came a week or two ago. When the parcel arrived, I had even forgotten what game I had ordered from there.

Bought three games, though one of them (After Burner) is for my friend. I had actually contemplated buying it for myself, passed it up, then my friend asked me to get it so I did, though instantly regretted not getting it for myself.

Shooting Range is the big one here, never officially released on Famicom and the bootleg is very rare.

The SD game I also never saw this particular bootleg for Famicom.

The funniest bit though is look what the guy stuffed in the box as "packing material", or as freebies, you decide.

Tape, neckties, soap, etc...am I about to become involved in some sort of kinky sex game? I *did* receive a mystery parcel with a game inside back in 2016 so, anything is within the realm of possibility here.

Grabbed a few more things tonight:

Boxed Tiger Famiclone. This was made in Thailand, the build quality is much worse than the Taiwanense clones. Includes the notorious unchained melody multicart.

Micro Genius IQ-180. This one has faults while reading games, though it likely can be repaired. You can see how bad it looked initially, I still need to scrub it good.

This is the very first Micro Genius Famiclone made, and up until now it wasn't even confirmed as being released, at least by western folks. Yeah, it's super rare.

Final Fantasy VII posters x 6. I'll hang these up in my game room. Although I only played Final Fantasy VII very little (there's a story behind that, too) this artwork always takes me back to a youthful period in my life, just as I was becoming a man, getting interested in women and the whole thing.

My brother and I were always Nintendo fanboys, so we had N64 when it came out. But a lot big friends had FFVII, and I remember it being advertised on sofa cartons from either Pepsi or Coke, I don't remember. I always wanted to try the game but didn't have a PlayStation, then I eventually did get one but it was several years after the hype died down. These were good, carefree times though.

An educational cartridge for the Famicom, in Arabic language. And a few Supervision cartridges.

Finally some unused labels for bootleg famicom cartridges. A lot of good games in here.

Funny note, I never ever saw a bootleg cartridge of King Kong 2 on Famicom, but there's a label here, so this suggests that a bootleg cart of this game must exist.

Also got these:

Video Famiclone doesn't work, bit it's very early and rare, perhaps can be repaired.

One original unlicensed GBC game, a GBA game enhancer, a 12 in 1 GB RPG collection multicart (I actually have two of these, I will sell the other one later if interested), and a box for what appears to be a street fighter LCD game.

Got a twin bee PCB a few weeks back. Honestly gotta get a house so I can properly set up a gaming entertainment room.

Also got another board too, no markings so I have no idea what's on it.

And for fun, this is my storage room, yield sign anyone?

Got a modded PS2 from a guy living over here who I consider a friend, despite us never actually meeting in person. He live a few hours away, our paths will cross eventually, it's inevitable.

I was actually looking for a modded PS1, but this is what he had, and I was fine with it, as it was tested, etc.

I bought it so that I could finally try out some unlicensed PS games I own, Taiwanense originals. I plan to write about them later.

Grabbed this with the Xbox stuff last time around, somehow missed it when emptying my backpack.

WWiU

Shitty kid's toy, but for $0.42, why not? Interestingly enough, it only arrived at the shop two days before I scored it.

Is it weird that I actually have some nostalgia for those types of toys?

Grabbed another big haul this past Friday. I paid about $500 for everything, so I didn't get these for pennies on the dollar, but similarly I think I did quite well. Thanks to the reseller for most of these!

Let's take a quick look, shall we?

Good Boy:

The Good Boy Famiclone supposedly works, but has some issues with it. I couldn't get it running, it's a small annoyance but when you have as many clones as I do, I don't care too much about it.

The box is missing the top flap as well, and is beat to hell. I even saw a silverfish crawling around inside, as well as some old cockroach eggs, so I completely disassembled it and cleaned it. Cost was about $5.

Old boxed clones like this is incredibly hard to find, even the Good Boy clones aren't particularly common here, loose. So while I will treat this as a placeholder item, for the price I think it's more than fine, and it's one of those examples which highlights to me the folly in only collecting mint items, as you'd be waiting a lifetime and paying an arm just to try to find something like this even in average condition.

The other Famiclone is modern and also was sold not functioning. $1 for it, I think it looks nice.

The educational cartridges I got in a trade with a buddy of mine in Thailand. My favourite has to be the one that teaches you plant vocabulary in Thai language. I used to collect foreign language dictionaries, so this is right up my alley.

The two Sega MD porno games I got strictly for the boxes, as I already had carts of them. I'll later sell the extra loose carts, more likely auctioning them off here on VGS .

Then there's the NGPC stuff. I've by now got about 20% of a full set, I'll probably try to get a full set or close to it. I still need to get an actual machine, but I really love the look of these, I've always been a sucker for the handheld stuff.

Railfan Taiwan High Speed Rail is something I learned about awhile back, thanks to a member here, I believe it was @MiamiSlice . He messaged me asking if I could help him find the Asian version of this PS3 game. I searched in numerous shops up and down the island and couldn't find it, only finding a few pricey copies being sold online by locals. So MiamiSlice then found one online in the States, iirc, and that was that.

I'd later watch video online of the game, and tears went to rolling down my face. It was so .... beautiful. The high speed rail has changed since I first moved here, with added stations, but the version portrayed in this game is the same as how the rail was, when I first experienced it. I just had to get the game.

I continued the hunt locally, figuring that at some point a cheaper copy of the game would turn up, but it never did. I then saw that the local guys that were selling online had been steadily increasing their asking prices, so I decided to act now and get it, while I could. Grabbed it for less than $100, sadly it doesn't have the card but I'm still happy to have it, and now just need to find a PS3 so I can play it. This is literally the only PS3 game I have interest in playing, haha.

Yes that was me! I’m glad you were able to get it too. With PS3 collecting gaining hype in the US, I expect these obscure titles are going to get even harder to find. Coincidentally, if you ever see the SE Asia release of Aquanauts, grab it. That one is way out the range of what I would pay on eBay at this point 🤕
