If you were running the company and your job is to increase profits or they will replace you, would you include a free game or price drop on one of the best selling and fastest selling video game consoles?

Many companies seem to forget that profits come from people, and if you treat people poorly they will stop supporting you. So what would I do? I would find a balance between making a profit AND keeping people happy. Yes, I would include a free game even if that means decreasing profits a little in the short run.

What people are unhappy or being treated poorly?

Geez arguments bordering on hints of socialism, how fun.  There is nothing you're entitled to in buying a Switch whether it's $300 or not.  And the argument you're not getting a game, even if digital, that's a joke.   You were given a link to a lot of them.  I didn't know they even had that many and there are a LOT of them.  There are MMOs, arcade, brawlers, platformers, card battlers, even a couple drawing apps and more there.  They're all free, not ad based or other junk.  Some have IAP but it's optional and not required at all.  Depending on someones tolerances and tastes there's enough there you could never buy a game and have tons of hours of choice to pick away at from that list.

You act like the Switch is priced out of the reach of most people.  It's not.  The price is more than fair for what you get and considering how well it's selling, it would be more than foolish to lower the price.

It's easy to say that when you aren't in a position to make those calls.  I guarantee you make the same call as Nintendo if you were truly in that position.

Yes I was thinking the same. Isn’t the US way Capitalism? Nintendo are just following US spirit! Haha.

I think the Switch is a fair price and you get great value. The sales are still strong, so no need for a pack in.

I do wish first party games would lower after a few years but that’s just standard with Nintendo and the flip side is you can sell them for almost what you paid.

You can't guarantee that, and I can't guarantee I wouldn't. Personally, I'm not happy with many things Nintendo does, including purposely releasing very limited games which they know will quickly sell out, and rather than print more Nintendo just shrugs its shoulders as if saying "hey, be glad we threw you a few morsels, now go pay that scalper!" And getting away with copying other games, but because it's Zelda people are like "greatest game ever made!" and shite like that. But yes, they have their fan base which will stick by them no matter what, so I suppose they don't have much incentive to change any of their behaviour nor make things more appealing such as including a pack-in game.

Look I agree with you, and yeah they are...more or less.  The US does do some light socialism with some of the plans out there in government giving things away, and well I guess Nintendo really is like them as they do too.  That's why I pointed out a genre list there.  I really was shocked as i hadn't looked at the free area in probably 2 years and there's seriously so much there and it doesn't appear to be garbage after reading into some of it.  You really could in theory buy a Switch and never buy a single game and have 100s if not 1000+ hours of junk to do there which is crazy.  There are even random give aways.  Capcom Arcade just dropped, for the next couple weeks Ghosts n Goblins is a freebie give away, and 1943 always comes with it, and they aren't just arcade they do have specials extras added too.

I'm with you on first party though, I wish they would.  I mean they do, just in a rotten way about it.  Nintendo ugly ass Selects and like 4 years into a console or handhelds life which then drops them to $20.  Or the game is over printed and bombs sadly like Elite Beat Agents or more rightly so with that dumb STEAM game they did a they rapidly went from $30-40 to $20 then $10 and finally $5 clear out at stores who probably just trashed them.

I've really not understood the whole Nintendo "doesnt do sales thing." Maybe in past console generations as I never paid attention until the Switch. A standard game is $60, Ive regularly seen throughout the year the prices go to $45 on Best Buy or Amazon etc. Last I checked that's called a sale. If everyone's problem is that they just want to pay next to nothing because xbox/sony basically give stuff away just makes people look like entitled babies. Should I be pitching a fit because Walmart put their graphic t-shirts on clearence for $1 and Target hasn't? The whole complaint here just comes off as childish

Yeah people who say games stay at $60 and don't move clearly don't shop for games. I think the only Switch game I paid $60 for was BOTW bc it came at launch. I've gotten most 1st party games $40 or below. Hell 3D World just was on sale for $50.

I can picture this on a big banner inside Apple HQ. While I agree that these companies owe us nothing and are just doing business, I find this argument kinda strange as it's very anti-consumer in my opinion.

The Switch seems to be an anomaly when it comes to sales for first party titles as I've seen most games on sale at one point in the last 6 months. Part of it I'm sure is the massive success of the system coupled with some of these games being released on the Wii U in similar fashion. Typically though the 'sales' are when the game is released as a Nintendo select/greatest hits.

The only game I am personally frustrated with on the Switch is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Most of my friends have moved on to that game and I have never seen it on sale. I know there are new mechanics but I refuse to pay full price for essentially the same game. I wish Nintendo had added a discount or something if you registered your MK8 Wii U purchase.

I know I'm picking at hairs here but MK8 is $50 right now at Best Buy US with a 7 day free trial of Nintendo's online service & the same price at Walmart Online free shipping. I know things Up North might be different but State Side Mario Kart 8 has been as low as $40 shipped by Amazon in late December.

Thanks for the look out... but none of these deals exist in Canada (ebay listing not found/amazon listing won't ship to Canada [plus I don't need NSMBUD]). The only time I saw MK8D discounted in Canada was a savings of $20 when you bought it with a new Switch back before Xmas. It's all good though as I am in no rush to get a copy.

I've been keeping an eye out for a used copy for about $50 (CAD) but even when they pop up for $60 they sell fast. In all honesty, I don't want to support Nintendo by buying it new unless it was heavily discounted (which I understand why it probably won't be for some time/if ever). Maybe if there is a Selects version released. A lot of my friends have bit the bullet but I am too stubborn to do so myself.

Personally I've not put out full price on much of the switch library either.  For the first 2 years or so it was around Amazon had been doing those 20% off pre-order deals with prime so I went there.  Annoyingly Best Buy stopped giving their discounts with their club, and days later amazon in turn quit doing it too.  After that I started watching for the random amazon price slide, or I just didn't need it that bad and I'd wait for a sale or just buy it second hand.  There's rarely a reason to pay up anymore, but sometimes depending, you have to.

This is kind of odd.  I have been playing Banner of the Maid and during the last several battles everything slowed to the speed of molasses - the characters  (both mine and the AI's) moved very slowly and the AI became painfully slow deciding what to do.

I am on the last battle and the game just crashed - I reloaded from a save I had done a turn before and things speeded back up to normal again.

I've noticed a similar thing when I was going through Mario & Rabbids. It would crash to main switch page a few times and slow down when getting into battles that had a large number of characters on the screen.

Memory leak? When was the last time you rebooted the game? If you've been playing from suspend for a while, there may be a memory leak that finally broke everything.
