Wata games certification?

Recommended Posts

hey,

I'm considering getting certification for one of my prototypes(its dumped but not released, and I've researched it as far as I can)

But I'm apprehensive about sending this game anywhere. Is it worthwhile to get a game certified with Wata games?

How do they adapt the cases for long cart prototypes? do they put stuffing in or something to keep it in the center or something?

How does it work I guess is what I'm asking...

I looked at the site but I figured I'd ask about testimonials.

edit:

In addition, its a vaporware prototype, so it doesn't officially exist according to their system, if I was to ask them to certify it would I need to call them? Or how would that work?

Are you trying to sell the prototype in the near future? If not, I’d hang onto it since it still seems to be a mess at WATA still from the other threads.

No. I'm just trying to protect it because right now I keep it in a pokemon deck box wrapped around several layers of antistatic bubblewrap and someone suggested wata before so I figured I'd inquire more about that.

But were I to sell it, i imagine a wata grading would help.

then maybe I'm not quite understanding what exactly it is that they do.

I will admit my fault there.

What I'm looking for them to do is gauge condition, and ensure that its safe in a clear case that's UV protected for archival purposes.

My apologies for my misunderstanding.

No reason to apologize, I don't understand what they authenticate with protos either. I feel like it's disingenuous to claim authority on items noone has ever seen before, and yet they seem to do it.

I certainly agree with you. I'm more looking for the case than anything but I figure, if it was done, then it could only help.

But, as I mentioned, I'm hesitant to send it anyway. reason being:  I payed 1500$ for the game itself...

If you just want a case, then CGA makes custom cases with UV protection.

I'll have to take a look at that later on, unfortunately, my work is kinda ridiculous with what they block 😞

edit: I looked into it and I found that the UV protection is inelligible for the item dimensions I supplied.

There is a whole grading forum here FYI: https://www.videogamesage.com/forum/12-sealed-graded-collecting/

Wata recently certified a retail PCB as a prototype in error and said they're rethinking how they certify prototypes, so even if you wanted to send it in, I would wait to see if they make any changes. FWIW, "99% UV filtering" films and glasses are really only partially effective at protecting what's behind them. The best way to protect something from UV fading or damage is to keep it out of sunlight entirely. Check out this thread https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/uv-window-protection

I thought that was for factory sealed games, not wata games too.

Sorry, my bad.

Thanks for the info as well.

I think you should contact CGA / VGA,  - I think they will make a custom case for you with UV protection. They can make basically any case, and they actually answer emails unlike WATA.
