It's not surprising to me that Encino Man isn't rated well, but I am a bit surprised at the movies it beat out.  I mean, even the late STAR WARS trilogy.  You might not like them, but certainly we all admit they were more entertaining than the best Paulie Shore film. Right?  Right?!?!

6.67 is pretty good.  It's just up against a tough slate.

I think for some of us Encino Man was the first major Shore movie. His shtick was still kind of fresh, and he and Frasier played off each other pretty well. It wasn't until Son In Law, Jury Duty and Bio-Dome that we started realizing he only had one mode and got sick of it.

Most of us here are close to the same age, which means that most of us were pretty young when those Shore movies came out, meaning that we were more likely to find them funny and enjoy them.  While I never saw Encino Man, I enjoyed Jury Duty, Bio-Dome, Son In Law, and In the Army Now.  However, I don't think I would get much enjoyment, if any, from those movies today.

I think individually they were pretty funny (and I know Bio-Dome has since become a cult film of sorts), but getting pounded by Shore movie after Shore movie is kind of like what happened with Adam Sandler later on.

Yeah, I can agree to that sentiment.  I saw Encino Man as a kid (10 at the time), I didn't get to see Bio Dome and then when In The Army Now came out, I did see that one.  I enjoyed Encino Man as a kid, but today it's a bit grating.  In the Army Now was just "ok" for me at that time and all subsequent Paulie Shore experiences just went down hill from there.

But, if we are going to talk about his body of work... any of you guys see Paulie Shore is Dead? NowTHAT was a cringe-worthy movie!

As a kid in the target age group at the time, and with movies as cheap as they were in that time period, I had no complaints 😛

I would love that, the original 3 Spider-Man movies were a big part of my childhood.

Heck yea. Also the fact (I'm a firm proponent/believer of) that there wouldn't even probably be decent Super Hero movies nowadays without Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy (I say that even with the first X-Men coming out before it, get dunked on haters 😛 )
