I just picked up “Time Spinners”by “Limited Run Games “,and loving it so far ..I must confess though I am little taken back by the claims of other gamers that there are references to LGBT in the game ,I have not yet encountered that ..But as a Conservative I would of passed on this game if I had 100% confirmation of that ..

Well, a lot of games have LGBT characters in them today, and I personally don't see a problem at all with it. In the USA about 4.5% of the population is LGBT, or roughly 1 in 20 people. This shouldn't bother anyone.

As far as I know, ALL LRG games come with manual (note, the very first one, Breach & Clear, on the Vita did not).

I really appreciate that these games come with manuals, and I'm personally willing to pay a bit more to have an actual manual, something that is lacking in today's AAA games.

Not all of them do, unfortunately. Curses N Chaos doesn't, neither is Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae, the Shantae games or Lili.

They have something in the cases,  but they aren't manuals. (I can verify with pics if need-be. ) They're more or less what looks to be like an outer cover of a manual, or like a pamphlet that only shows the warnings and fine prints-- nothing of what I would consider a manual, not like how River City Girls is anyways. I see some AAA off-the-shelf games do this too, where it's just a piece of paper with no pages with character bios, story, levels, etc. Some do have at least the control options, but not all of them do.

I did get manuals for Skull Girls and Pang though, so some have full manuals, some only outer cover pamphlet thingies.

Well it does bother me ,because I am Conservative in Ideology ,and  Catholic /Judeo-Christian in Doctrine ..And the whole LGBT movement is against my Christian values ,but that’s just me ..

As long as it's not too political to the point where a developer tries to shove it down someone's throat, I don't see a problem (That goes for either side of the coin).

I personally play games to escape from reality's insanity.  If it's subtle or ambiguous, fine. If it's loud and over-the-top to where the focus is solely on a certain political view, then nooope.

That's too bad you feel that way. I really am sorry when just having a LGBT character in a game bothers someone so much.

What bothers me is society’s moral fiber has deteriorated to the point video game developers feel the need to promote it in video games..And I “feel sorry “for folks that see no problem with it ..

That is one of three that I passed on that I will probably buy later. It looks cool, but I thibk I passed on it because it is a Metroidvania. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

I remember when Joshua Sawyer got complaints from people playing Fallout New Vegas over the gay dialogue options in some playthroughs. He pointed out that in order to unlock those, you had to select a perk called Confirmed Bachelor, the icon of which was a man giving another man a backrub. If you didn't select it, those options don't appear.

So the people complaining actively selected that perk, that is called CONFIRMED F'IN BACHELOR. I dunno, I guess they thought the icon was just two bros hanging out or something. 😛

A game where you commit mass murder, theft, and gamble in 6 prostitute filled casinos, but opt in gay dialogue is what makes people complain, man. These people need to stick to Wisdom Tree.

I too am conservative, at least on how I was raised, but maybe I fall along to be more centristic as I got older?

I know this subject is very tricky to walk though, so for the sake of the thread, I'll try not disparage anyone for thinking or believing a certain way (It's not my intention), but I play video games as means to escape. There's a reason why I don't fall totally over to one side anymore like I used to--this stuff drives me nuts. However again, at least for me, if the product was made to be an outright biased propaganda (again, either side) rather than an game, then I feel it has no business. In other words, that political stuff shouldn't be there, I have enough of that in the real world.

I want to be empathetic here, so please see this as my own subjective opinion, if anything. I'd hate to derail anything here. Hell, I'm open to discuss stuff in PMs or in a new thread.

Bottom line: I just want games to be "games". 🙂

Ah, that too is interesting and a whole other thread...

the thing is, I think most of us would agree that video games are an artform. Of course, you could always argue what is art, but invariably much of art gets one to think or look at things differently. While I'm definitely against blatant propaganda, I have no problem with exploring different viewpoints. For example, I loved playing Life is Strange Before the Storm where you play as a gay young woman who is battling high school blues and exploring life... it was fabulous!

If we lived in a world where people stifled such creativity, we may never have gotten such a wonderful game. And you know what, I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of people that played Life is Strange, were neither gay nor young women, and that shouldn't matter one bit.

Great points. Let's not forget Last of Us (A great freaking game IMO) and one game I'm looking forward to -- Cyberpunk 2077. 🙂

Your ideology isn't conservative.

LOL, well to be fair, the bible advocates slavery, genocide, so I guess that's fine. Just don't go coveting your neighbor's wife, because the celestial dictator will convict you of thought crimes.

False, but also outside the scope of this thread's purpose, so carry on.

Lol ..All due respect I could school you on orthodox Biblical theology ,since I have well over 20 years of experience with studying it .And your comment “your ideology  isn’t Conversative”is ludicrous, but ok ..

To get back on the subject, was anyone able to attend the Pop Up event they held a few weeks back before Thanksgiving? Despite living in the same state, work requirements prevented me from doing so (though I certainly will try again next year), but I was able to connect with someone in a Facebook group who was attending and got a PAX variant of Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon for PS4.

I was there since it was right next to my house. It was kind of neat, especially since LRG games come with a 6 month delay when you buy them. It mostly made me realize how much junk I don't care about LRG puts out! Boxes and boxes of anime games! The line was huge, like 300 people ahead of me. I arrived right before it opened because I'm not hunting anything expensive or rare. I basically just wanted the Night Trap and Bloodstained variants, but it was cool that they had some stuff like unfolded boxes for their LEs and damaged goods at steep discounts. I saw people at the front of the line come out with huge bags of games talking about all the $13 games from the damaged section.

Did you acquire what you were hunting for?

I went. It was fun and I hope they do it again. I only grabbed a few things, but could have easily grabbed 15-20 games, as the selection was wide open

I got all the LRG games I wanted as they came out so I didn't really need anything, I was there just to see what's up mostly. I picked up Bloodstained LE and Celeste LE which were harder to pass on when it's right there in front of me. Also got the Bloodstained and Night Trap variants. And Revenge of the Bird king because lol.
