So now that there's a sample of population for select games, what was learned? The numbers don't see high or low to me.

Just coming back to the hobby this is my first experience of frustration. I get the price spikes and dips, always had them albeit now its exponential. Its the capitalistic reselling mentality and the most prized grails just trading hands for constant profit. This is what, the 2nd highest recorded sale behind SMB and the owner is already trying to flip it 5 months later?
5 months...... How much does this owner and his business partner really care for the actual game. Next to nothing.
Sealed collectors back on NA set the roots for all of this, bronty, 1upped, jone, blarky, list goes on and on. There was something so special when collectors rooted for one another and we had that tight community. A few years later I joined NA as a new guy and they welcomed me with open arms. Felt great to be a part of the journey. Prices spiked back then too but it wasnt so artificial like this. So I miss it. Joining Instagram has helped quite a bit but its still not the same.
Anyways, I dont mind price spikes. Its fun watching your graded games go up in value, but when the most prized grails are trading hands strictly for profit with no attachment to the actual game it just annoys the crap out of me.end rant.
Obviously people are coming into this hobby now strictly for investment purposes, and for the most part are not trying to hide that.
This is just the natural progression of hobbies when demand reaches a certain point.
We also should not forget that MM traded hands a few times before it hit the HA scene.
In the end I have no control over it. It is what it is.

Isn't this a timewalk game? I thought people collect these?

1) Grading will always be polarizing.
2) People should collect how they want.

You're damaging the boxes stacking them like that it might seem trivial and something that doesn't even cross the mind but it is most definitely a reality. Those grams add upp.
I ended up opening all of them anyway.

Prototypes, store displays, strategy guides, and newsletters. Not sure if any of those are that niche any more.

Hagane prototype sells for less than CIB copy of the game. I don't keep up on the prototype market, not sure if this is high or low, but in a world of games regularly selling for 4 figures, it seems kind of low. No interest in this from the moneybags I guess, or less faith in Wata proto certification.
I personally don't think there is a correlation between CIB/loose value to its prototype counterpart. I wouldn't pay more for a Little Samson protoype than an Adventure Island. Their supply/demand should be similar.
Historically protoypes value is in software differences but unfortunately Wata, nor HA, label if that's present or not.

You missed the $45,000 mike tysons punch out.
That's what I was going to say.

I would estimate $750

If a game comes out on multiple mediums(floppy, cd, etc.) what is the most collectible? I would assume the oldest?

Anyone have a CopyNES board, or NES with it preinstalled?
Thanks!

My guess is it won't attract with strength, but I'll be interested to watch also.
I saw something (on instagram maybe?) about heritage selling a few display items and mentioned it to Deniz (who's a big collector of that material) and it was news to him.
Yeah, they dont seem to be marketing it. I need to start looking at all the auctions as opposed to just searching for "wata".

They are selling promo materials too now?
This is very interesting. It will be nice to gauge how the HA crowd views store display value.

Understood. My E-penis has just shrunk.
I assume you are going to have people check in ever year to make sure their collections are intact?

A year.

How is that even a question? You open up a 9.2 sealed and now you’ve probably got a 9.2 box, 9.4-9.8 cart, 9.4-9.8 manual. Meaning just taking the wrap off ‘upgrades ‘ it because now the other parts can bring up the average .
Assuming the variant is the same there should be no question. Even if the variant is different there’s going to be a scarcity premium on the sealed
Sounds like you didn't look at the auction listings.
Sealed is an newer oval seal, and the CIB is a hangtab. Wouldn't make sense if it were the same variant.

Which Castlevania will sell higher at the upcoming auction? CIB 9.4 or Sealed 9.2?
-
I've been starting to get into NES prototypes over the last year. Definetly an interesting part of the hobby.

If it's the one in the picture I would say 2k since it has the glass doors and appears to be in good shape.

Keep in mind even without the physical seal WATA will grade it as sealed.

CertifiedLink and Comicconnect both do mixed auctions. HA is the only auction house that is Wata exclusive.
