  1. Winston Churchill and Benito Mussolini (FDR, Hitler, Stalin the other 3). The game I believe is named Daisenryaku (sp?) a tactical ww2 game where you can play whatever side you want to shift the war as over there, they're not hyper sensitive about which side you ally with compared to western countries.
  2. No problem. I'm currently hoping I can find some time to take an hour or so to do a bit of kind of just that anyway. I had fudged a cart convertor later last year one that puts NES into a FC. I'd like to take another shot and see if I can work one up so I can get the expanded audio and MMC5/Tengen mapper games working on my AV Famicom. I go often between using the 9" PVM and that, or using my honeybee/hi def nes enabled top loader on the modern TV to play and would like to have all audio/features enabled.
  3. That's not a bad deal. Mind you T/SRPG style games and I throw in X-COM types I'm 99% of the time not a fan of, utterly hate the cheap confusing scripted mechanics they have that lack creativity so I just don't bother. If I watched enough of this to see I could be fine with it, that's not a bad deal, but I think knowing how my time is lacking anymore these days with two jobs I'd probably get it on my phone and screw with it in my breaks there, between work, etc when it's easier just clicked and played than finding couch time.
  4. You have to do a couple of things to get away with this if you stick with raw normal NES style hardware. If you went a route I did with a NES HiDef kit from kevtris, then it just works and makes your a/v far nicer too on modern systems. For starters you'll need to rig up the console, and lastly, you'll need to rig up some 60 to 72pin adapter to get the job done. This site spells it out, don't really want to copy pasta all this: https://consolemods.org/wiki/NES:Expansion_(EXP)_Audio_Mod#:~:text=To get expansion audio from,3 (Audio mix input). Fun fact, if you like me also use a NES to Famicom (I have an AV Famicom too unaltered except to use US accessories on controller 2 I did myself) it also needs a tweak for audio to pass correctly, it's at the bottom of that page as well. Ultimately you'll need to be able to do a bit of basic soldering with some small pieces, wires, flux, and solder to pull this off both on console and on the adapter. I did find this and followed it last year, if you were to want to use an AV Famicom(or Famicom) and use NES carts on it, this bit of work is needed on a 72 to 60pin convertor to keep MMC5 and expanded audio support -- https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=5189.0
  5. I missed out on the GBA Shantae on accident, wasn't happy with the puffed up price over what Shantae GBC did complete, but well life and time slipped on that one. Whoever got it, hope you enjoy that one, seems I may just let it slide or go with Steam on that one. Speaking of, since they have their own little NA fiefdom with it, any word on Valis Collection 3?
  6. I see Spaceland is all over the place, including iOS so mobile has a crack at it. I bet it would be play well on there too. That said, and I'm not around regularly, did anyone here scoop up Another Code for Switch? I had a gift card from my b'day I cashed out and got the game but (oops) kind of forgot it arrived around a flurry of good luck locally with NES/FC and Genesis stuff that distracted me. In the last week about I've fired it up twice and I'm impressed. I feared it would be a total re-run of the DS game, and I remember that one well enough, to say it's a mixed bag of yes and a lot of NO thankfully. It's fresh alright, things differ clearly. I've just parked it last night at Ch4 for D's Memories after getting kind of treated like crap from so-called Dad, I'm thinking it's that loser Bill if it's not some other odd twist. The game works well largely, seems to really fumble very slowly in camera mode which is odd when you're scanning for stuff but that aside it works, and largely not too confusing on things which I hate as logic puzzles in games are illogic puzzles. Can't wait to put that to bed to try and do the Wii game the NA market was screwed out of back in the day (along with Disaster due to that joke Reggie.)
  7. Any model of 3DS I ever had never had the problem, or added to the problem when I had a couple of second hand models. The second hand ones that did have an issue were paint chips, but that was from some doofus dropping it on a rough hard ground like blacktop/concrete looking at the dent & scrape pattern on the chips. I've yet to come across one or one I had new where the action of the buttons/sticks were weak, worn, or selective at all. The thing is they were just better designed than the questionably dumb paint jobs Nintendo did in past decades where just general use would wipe the inks out on say the GB Pocket and Light where you'd rub the gold and silver paints off to the ugly undercoat. Any chips found on a SP or later handheld would be from accidents/former owner abuses. And in that case it was no different than someone sliding an old DMG across the counter over and over again until it had wear scuffs all along the back. Admittedly I didn't like where I saw this stuff was going over a year ago. I got rid of my entire though small DS and 3DS library of games and the New 2DSXL I had complete n box and all. I started seeing a few games here and there I'd want and due to the virus and scalpers going for stupid prices, and not wanting to fuss with warez and dealing with NoA bs with bricking kits around firmware updates I dumped it. In my absence here I've offloaded a lot because of the headaches of the market and lack of time (working 60 hours now) -- DS, 3DS, PSOne, PS3, NGPC, various other devices and games with them gone and no regrets. Last one was Cube, finicky drives and discs, toxic price...got out. I've resolved to (gba aside) sticking to NES to 64, GG and Genesis outside of a new computer and Switch.
  8. Well there are others from the FDS library too like the Catherine mystery novel conversions, and a few others too so they may rate a way up the scale.
  9. Yes but seeing the advice, at least on the non-NFRs you ignored the advice. Best of luck i saw those go up but I'm really curious to see how this all ends up.
  10. I'm not sure if this should fairly count but what about Wolfenstein 3D and Doom? W3D on one of the chapters the hidden stage on that one is the map from Pac-Man redone in FPS style yet retains the ghost monsters in that form of 3D along with the pellets being replaced by in game items. And then Doom had tne honor of adding 2 hidden stages within that were two full stages based on Wolfenstein 3D except you had Commander Keen strung up in a noose for decoration as another nod to an even earlier title.
  11. At least you only wrote that, if you took it further to anything UK related or using that decades plus long incorrect use of blue chip when talking about stuff the whole board would die of alcohol poisoning in short order.
  12. I'd agree with that sentiment with Frozen Empire, it's nice, but it's not on the tier of the original two, or Afterlife either. Afterlife doesn't have that disney stench to me, it was if anything a very proper send off and a friendly sad goodbye to Egon too. It should have stopped there and no one would have thought any worse of it. The new one which is fine, it's just not in the top half of the pile for sure, and does kind of have that aging dragged out feel a middle of the last star wars trilogy vibe to it just a bit. Not bad, but why? 2016 is fine, just not fine as a ghostbusters movie as like some redaction and redesign of the old movie franchise as that then given how they acted, how dumb the guy was, and the rest feels a bit like a kick in the teeth.
  13. I remember the 2016 mess being done, I looked back, and I kind of regret being a bit nice with that 6. I mean it's watchable, but it's also basically everything wrong in hollywood wrapped up into one franchise drive by shooting at the same time. Thankully the two movies came out since that even they've gone to great lengths to use to redact that one movies existence out of history. Alone it's fine for what it is, but ...ouch. Ghostbusters 2 though I wanted to go 7.5 but can't, so 7. It's good, not great, but it's a solid watch with some good moments just nothing as epic as the original, nor is it as inspiringly good as the rebirth of it with Afterlife. I'm at odds to say if G2 is better or worse than Frozen Empire though, haven't had the time to stew on that one long enough. G2 has it's problems, but it's pretty amusing, the ghosts are pretty fun and the possession bits are handled pretty nicely as well. The puns aren't as good, the locations less amusing or interesting too, and well it's just not as improv as much of the script was on the original and that does hurt it.
  14. @Reed Rothchild Just from those early posts, the one word you nailed it entirely for the thread being even made -- entitlement. Be happy you don't live in state, the level of entitlement and utterly sad behavior is time and again around the UK fans more than the other colleges here. Their fans are utterly insufferable and take that 'we' thing to new heights. There is no we, you're a fan, like what did YOU do to be consider the 'we' in their team eh? I mean it hurts just reading a line like that one opener 12 hours ago 'finest college basketball team in all the land' ...since when? I know I shouldn't even be posting it as it's UK fan trigger worthy and I won't locally get into those idiotic debates and rather not engage in it here either. For all I care any KY team wins one, awesome... felt the same way about the PRO side in Cali as the locals didn't have to feed off the NCAA to get their kicks as KY has no pro teams.
  15. I was on board with Danny boy there until that last sentence, it's not just un-funny, it's also sad and wrong when I first saw that. The oddity of it all Activison and that tool CEO, given what they've done, that's a pot kettle black snark moment if there ever was one.
  16. You do remember what the title of this was right? Game Boy versions that were more fun than NES/SNES/Arcade? I pointed out it was more fun, and that it opened up more like the arcade than the NES, that's it, and clearly stated now repeatedly after the first four stages you get far more. I don't get this whole blinders game here focusing on that as it's nonsense.
  17. I guess so, the date would support it as much. But there it is, the only other as far as I can recall legit/licensed fighter for the system, or in a way the ONLY since FC got it, and NES got the TMNT fighters. And this game destroys that janky Konami title control wise, and has far more substance and things to do too. It's a shame it never made it out of there but it just was too late. MM6, Warios Woods, gray cart Zeldas were far easier to market than some disjointed robot pixel parts fighting game at that rate. It would have been endless reviewer baby snark how it just wasn't street fighter II.
  18. I get it, I'm still offloading. I purged my entire first owned gamecube collection and stuff this year even as I'm fed up with the shenanigans and the age related issues of those too. If you had a nice clean minuet that wasn't tatty or stained, just all around nice I'd be curious if what you said to me last year about it still stood. I've tried to get one and they do not come up cheap in this country at all on ebay etc. The sharks all know here now and flag them as such, or you get a Dave situation with bait n switches. And on that, he could leave the review but that still gets into the honorific slander garbage and he's a white boy in an asian country...he'd lose due to that reputation thing and it's not worth the horrors or pains for $6.
  19. Well if you're curious, of the roughly 150 games the MVS has, despite the bs reputation SNK caused largely on their own, only around 30% of the library is fighting games shockingly enough, and yeah +6 metal slug games maybe inching things toward 35-40%. You maybe surprised to know of the games I do have, they're a solid minority with 6 fighters and 2 slugs. I specifically prefer their non-offerings of that type. The system is pretty oddly overlooked yet rich in shooters both vertical and horizontal and I've got 8 of those. I've got what are considered the systems platformers, the run n gun (cyber lip), a few of the brawler(belt scroller), and a few of the solid sports games too and some puzzles. I strongly suggest you get this, seriously: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832648130385.html That's what I have, they're now onto a new sticker/ shockbox art / tourquoise shell (mine is yellow) than what I got March a year ago. The price is still in that $50s value too, which is a solid deal given even the cheapest MVS carts these days should set you back nearly that shipped at least for the worst of the worst. While this is out of date as far as the glitches of the 161 go as this v3 fixed it, the check boxes are accurate to the titles you'll get. https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/MVS_Multicart Trust me, it's damn near a one and done investment. After that just cherry pick what you care about it lacks. Don't bother trying to find the others on the list they're out of production (especially the 138) and toxic is hell to pay for it if you find it because it has a few $500+ carts on it in particular (TSS & Sengoku 2) What I have that isn't on there are old favorites: Magician Lord, NAM 1975, Ghost Pilots, League Bowling, and a few others. I do have some overlap because when I grabbed them the price was irresistible for a real copy since the old 161 was flaky. I'd also look into a flashing service it's cheap, get the UNIBIOS v4 done. It has a unique pick n mix feature on the MVS side that removes all the crap hacks from the cart and creates this popup window where you can pick the nearly 100 legit games on the fly, or just leave it in demo mode and like an old arcade cabinet it'll cycle ALL the games (like the old 2-6 would do.)
  20. It's in his name. He OPTedOUT of being squashed.
  21. Wow nice, still a dozen Minuet left? That's crazy you got so many spares. They're nasty to try and get on even ebay now as everyone over there and domestic want to write MINUET on the listings and ask like what...10x the price give or take. I mean i get it and not, the music is a cool footnote and it had a few other little quirks/bugs they hashed out at the 11th hours but still. Ugh.
  22. Well things are a lot different from about a decade ago vs the last 5 years or less, and this is coming from someone with 35 MVS carts and a pretty cherry 2 slot cabinet, and I've had probably around 50-60 total carts swapped over time. The best way, if you can live without using real hardware, are your emulator options. If you want to be a legal eagle, ACA Hamster went hog wild on most the titles over the Switch, almost as many on Sony...PC is lagging bad into the 20s which is a loss (or not, due to emulators, roms.) And that's the other, micro pcs/android boxes/mobile phones-tablets emulate the thing using Final Burn Alpha which is far easier to setup and better off than migraine inducing MAME. The whole ROM library is less than an old CD worth of storage, you won't be hurting for space whatever you do. AES is a nightmare, avoid. MVS has been increasin gin recent years to toxic levels, but not AES by a long shot. NeoCD tends to be cheapest, but the crappiest with a smaller library and god awful load times. Another choice, it took years to safely crack the thing, but the Neo Geo MINI that can be played as a tabletop or run to a TV/monitor with minihdmi-hdmi cabling can have the console library thrown on that too (like Hakchi for NES/SNES.) Yet another choice, a year ago (lazy I know...after a year of it being bug ridden) a v3 of the 161in1 cart arrived on the market you can snag for $50-60 range, it has about 100 legit (of a 150 library) MVS games on it. So you could go as far as a supergun or a consolized MVS one slot board and use that on your TV and you'd largely be set just buying a few legit carts you really love that it lacks. There are two flash kits on the market, the prices are disturbingly high. One is made from terraonion and it has some bugs in the newer model they sell so it can glitch, also load times on it are bullshit so if you like waiting up to 5min for the largest game (KOF2003) to load I'd avoid. Darksoft has another, it puts stuff I guess into its memory a different way or has better storage but it will load like 3-4 games into memory far faster and retain them so you can swap things on the fly. Both I think are around the $500 mark before memory card and shipping. I wouldn't suggest it.
  23. I don't want to be that gatekeeper guy, but I think any new people coming in, I just wish they'd use a bit of common sense and curb the age(dozen year old now) FOMO boner as it hurts everyone beyond their walls. - Research your game/system prices and trends on price. - Don't just click the first nice looking price/BIN on ebay (etc) overpaying as it sets scalper precedent - Be respectful of others in your local area, don't just scoop everything then 180 it up back online/local peddlers spaces for fat profit using shady stories or your own children to get better deals(we have a dick using a 5 year old son here in the area to do this.) - WIthin a common circle, be better on prices between friends of a facebook etc group, you're not eating paypal or ebay fees (or worse, mercari now which is higher.) - If you're running a local business, find a happy middle ground, you're not getting a million online(ebay) viewers an hour to your shop, nor does your midwest/southern shop have the same median income as the coast -- if I can go online to buy it for less shipped -- you failed. It's not so much new people stepping into it, general across the board. If you're scum, you don't deserve business. And if it's personal, keep your head out of your ass and not making it worse for others buying/trading smartly.
  24. It's sad and strange. They were doing well, then with the debacle with the not working correctly pocket dock, and now all the problems with both period stuff (CD issues like yours, there's a few) and then oversized HuCards like a couple of the fat ones, accessories, and the modern everdrives not fitting in either it's like they wanted to screw this up as badly as possible at both ends and succeeded. Also as of now, 3 days later, they still can't sell through that restock of the pocket either, at least in black. They used to fly quickly...I think trust is broken.
  25. Not a bad list, can't blame that spread. Star Luster is a little surprising, I own this one and it's a lot of fun despite its age it is fairly unique and plays well. It's interesting to see Nintendo's own fighter Joy Mech Fight got in high on the list that's a solid little fighting game that plays surprisingly well, almost feels like it has some early Custom Robo dna to it given how that one works out between the fights. Rampart is a good good call, that game Konami made really shames the US release in comparison, it's not the same title, check it out. I've been meaning to scoop that one up, just have not yet as I had it years ago.
