  1. Wow, a huge congrats to all the N64 players who kept the dream alive! It's beyond awesome to see the thread all done and dusted with time to spare, and it was tons of fun to participate. I'll definitely be dipping into the 2024 thread and playing all kinds of weird racers, whatever it ends up being.
  2. Hey guys, back again. Life got in the way of my precious N64 time, but maybe that wasn't such a bad thing since I was working on beating Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero. Finally conquered it over the last few days - what a rancid game! I didn't like it when it was new, and I like it even less now. Wouldn't have been nearly as bad if the controls weren't programmed by an insane person, and if the levels weren't designed by an even more insane person. The water level felt like a human rights violation, but what can ya do.
  3. Re-Volt burned me out on N64 for a while there, but I'm ready to jump back into the fray now. I'll get started on MK Mythologies if nobody else wants to - that's another childhood white whale of mine I've wanted to take down for years. Also, is anybody working on Pokemon Stadium 2 yet? If not, I can jump into that one too.
  4. Nice job lately guys, it's awesome to see that completed number spike up so much. Got another one done today: Re-Volt. Not a bad little racer, but the unexpected difficulty spike kicked my ass. The same deal as Nugfish with Mickey's Speedway, from the sounds of it. I actually finished the first three cups in a few hours with no sweat, but got gatekept by the final cup for the last week or so. Once you commit the final tracks to memory it becomes easier, but damn, I'm going to be seeing little RC cars every time I close my eyes for the foreseeable future.
  5. Another one in the bag: Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon. Ended up really loving it, definitely one of my new favorites on the 64. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
  6. Cleared California Speed, both the Do The State and California Cup modes. The tracks in this one were cool, even if the racing itself was a little generic. I'll pick up another racer tomorrow!
  7. Finally managed to finish the last cup on S.C.A.R.S. It was a close shave - I tied with the second CPU racer, but it still counted as a win! Had a great time with it; the item system made it really great IMO. You can pick up the best attack/booster items anytime, even if you're in 1st place, so you can harass the other racers the whole time. Lots of fun, definitely an underrated one. I'll get started on some other car game tonight.
  8. Some updates: I'm on the last cup of S.C.A.R.S. at the minute - it's giving me a little trouble, but I should still have it wrapped up in no time. Also about 4-5 hours into Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, so I'd like to soft claim that one if that's OK. This is my first time playing it, and I'm having a great time with it.
  9. Hey guys, finally back with another clear: Tarzan. Decent 2.5D platformer that was mind numbingly easy up until the last 2 levels. The final boss has a very rigid pattern to learn, had to farm a few lives to get a good handle on it. This cheap ending screen also made me laugh. They couldn't even put a picture of a gorilla on there or something? BTW, I've got to throw in the towel on Penny Racers. That one felt like throwing myself at a brick wall after awhile.
  10. DK64's going well, 45 Golden Bananas and 4 levels in at the moment. Hopefully if I can keep up this pace, I'll have it done sometime next week. I've also started to chip away at Penny Racers inbetween monkeying around, though that one's slower going. I'm not great at it just yet, but it's a little gaming goal of mine to get good at racers this year.
  11. Finally finished all the mirrored tracks in Ridge Racer 64! It was fun, but since I'm not great at racers the last 3-4 took me quite a lot of practice. I can go back and finish the Extreme tracks if that's needed for the completion to count, though. Good game, but at the same time I don't think I'd play it again. Either way, I'm going to get started on Donkey Kong 64 tonight if no one else is tackling it. Been meaning to properly beat that game for a long time.
  12. Ran through Pokemon Snap last night. Haven't played it in ~15 years!
  13. Hey VGS! Long time lurker and first time poster here. I thought I'd actually participate instead of just lurking this year, since these threads always seem like a lot of fun. I'm currently six tracks into Ridge Racer 64, and I'm also playing the first Pokemon Stadium for my own fun along with it. If Pokemon Stadium 2 is still available by the time I'm done, I'll happily pick it up if no one else has by that point. Just excited to help out, really.
