Do you know if there were any differences between the PS1 and Saturn versions of X4?

I’m gonna be bumping this thread every once in a while with recent pickups. Hopefully we get more traffic that way. The other console specific threads are laughing at us. Picked up Mega Man X4 a few weeks ago. Loving it. Classic Mega Man stuff. Does anybody know why Mega Man 8 is so much more expensive than X4? I feel like they must have received a similar production run. What’s the deal?

If you own both Shining Force III and Panzer Dragoon Saga can you compare the manuals for me? Both of these games are among the last released for the Saturn and they were both published by Sega so you’d think the manuals would be of a similar quality. But when I compare these manuals I notice that SFIII has a stiffer cover and back cover than PDS. The PDS manual cover/back cover is the same paper as the interior pages. I’m worried that one of these is a reproduction. If you guys have time will you check your manuals for me? Follow up question: How prevalent are reproduction manuals? Do you come across them very often?

The other thing the SNES has in its favor is that it was a combatant in the only console war that really mattered. That bloody conflict was fought endlessly in the playgrounds and hearts of an entire generation. ….lest we forget…

I think what we’re seeing with the N64 will be short lived. The SNES has staying power because it’s library has aged so well. The N64 on the other hand…

Would you assume that Saturn games are more likely to experience bit rot then other games? Sega CD, PlayStation, Dreamcast, GameCube?

Seems I was priced out on a few Saturn titles overnight. But I can never trust Saturn prices to be consistent. I feel like the Saturn market jumps around more than other consoles.

Any opinions on why the price of Mountain Bike Rally/Speed Race has stayed stagnant while other SNES games have jumped? People on eBay are trying to make it a $2K game (cart only) but the market seems to have it priced closer to $1K—which is where it’s been for years it seems.

I’m also curious about Dark Savior.

Can someone explain the love for Virtua Fighter 2? It often makes people’s top 10 list for Saturn games. WHY? It’s clunky, floaty, and only has two attack buttons. What am I missing???

I know that “in the wild” scores are few and far between these days, but I’m sure most of us have experienced the giddy satisfaction of finding uncommon and expensive games out in the real world. For me it was Pocky and Rocky on SNES. Nothing too crazy but I’d never even heard of that game when I first found it at a garage sale. At the time it was only a $40 title but it was definitely on the rare side. What’s funny is I actually found 2 in the same month. What uncommon games have you found in the wild?

Horrible news. I was only peripherally aware of byuu/Near, but of course we’re all familiar with their work. It was big news when byuu’s SNES collection went up for sale. I believe it was (name redacted) from NA who purchased the collection. From what I remember byuu even let (name redacted) spend the night at their house while he cataloged and packed it all up. EDIT: removed the member name just in case they don’t want to be brought into this conversation

Father’s Day just passed so I thought this might be a fun topic. Ever get any great advice from your dad? Are you a dad yourself? What’s some good advice you’ve given your kids? My dad told me that hate will always hurt you more than the object of that hate. I think about that every time I’m tempted to hold a grudge.
