Just looking at the past several years, they’re kind of all over the place, but many of these aren’t really headline mass shootings. Though we hear about them locally. I live in the suburbs of Chicago and we have strict gun laws but still have issues.
I’m personally for stricter gun laws despite the fact that they may not reduce certain gun violence. I personally believe there should be some sort of annual mental fitness evaluation in order to maintain gun ownership. Life circumstances can change and have a significant impact on someone over time. A once stable person may no longer be fit to own a gun. I do not own a gun, and I don’t plan to, but I did get a FOID card, required for Illinois in case stuff hits the fan and I do need to prepare myself to protect my family. However, I never plan to use it.
