  1. Being a long time comic collector its so interesting to see the SVG market mirror the comic market and I suspect the same is true for cards. I 100% agree you can look at any data and come to any conclusion you want based on input. Just like comics day traders on the CGC boards get all wacked out over the results of one auction all of a sudden DOOOOOOOM is upon us. The fact is comics, cards and SVG seem to be slowing down a bit (I would suspect this has a lot more to do with people going back to work then with less demand for collecting) Last summers Heritage sale was groundbreaking & will be looked at and talked about for a long time to come as it did something that matters more then anything it changed perception of what SVG can and will sell for. I am willing to bet that when the results from next weeks Heritage auction are entered into the data used above we will see an upward trend for many games. The reality is Heritage is king at promotion and it never ceases to amaze me the quality of s#it they get in all collectables including SVG. You bet the SVG market will ebb and flow & as the hobby matures games will get hot and games will cool off( its happening now) but make no mistake "the time are changing" and there is no going back to pre summer 2021.
  2. Thanks for all the input from everyone, its been a lot of help as GVC's are just in a much less refined era in comparison to a very old & mature market like comics ( it's clear there are no concrete set of rules as of yet). I had sincerely hoped I could make a run on this game as it has a lot of sentimental value to me and honestly I was kind of hoping PS1 games were a bit less sought after at this stage of the hobby ( boy was I wrong) It's quite clear this game in this condition is genuinely a rare hard to find grail and after being here and on a few other sites it's also very clear nobody has a real handle on where this is going to hammer out at. I have my safe $$$ number and I am going to throw my hat in on the last day but the reality is I think I am way off and don't expect to win this beauty. All the input here has been fantastic and regardless of winning this or not I am stoked to watch the auction & whoever lands this bad boy ( regardless of what the final number is) they will own one bad MF of a historic game imho.
  3. Hey can I also ask being a comic guy it's pretty easy to find date in terms of what say a 8.5 would be in relationship to say a 9.8 % wise is there any kind of standard at this point? For example and in general is a 8.5 worth 40% of a 9.8 any help would be great.
  4. Thanks for link WOW that looks awful and it went for 14k, I guess this one is going to go high.
  5. AR I guess if you use the Mario as a gauge it makes sense this game is going to go much higher then I thought, I just didn't think PS1 had the same kind of interest.
  6. I know it's rare just being new to gaming its hard to wrap my head around some of the numbers being brought up with this game, I mean 300k in South Jersey is damn nice house lol On a side note I looked up past auctioned your correct there seems to be a hell of a lot of Mario games and there were no past sales of this game & only one of the Twisted Metal which might be one of the best looking boxes of all time imho.
  7. Wow cool rare game! but why would anyone want to see a bubble burst? I have seen that happen in the 1990s with comics and let me tell you its not good for any collectors low or high end. I mean it seems like your really pissed off because games are selling for a lot of money to people that don't play them? Or maybe WATA isn't the most reputable company & is out to make money...really. Well welcome to the club of baseball cards, comics and even VHS all of which are being bought by people who don't care to read or watch them with a lot of money ( I don't know anyone who has 3 million for a Spiderman comic) . I am a comic guy and I clearly remember everyone saying CGC was a joke, it won't won't last, " they are comics why seal them up" and basically what your saying suck my balls I hope it burns because "those people are buying into my hobby". But let me tell you anyone hoping WATA is going away or thinks CGC ( which is now going to grade games), VGA,PSA on IGS hasn't had a huge impact on price's & will continue to do so isn't really isn't plugged into where these markets are at and where they are going. You may not like the future of the hobby but that train has left the station.
  8. You really think that high? I am kind of new to this& those numbers just seem surreal when an opened one is $200, are they really that kind of rare? I am just trying to educate myself.
  9. Really? I just looked and it's at 52k already I figure it will top out at 100k at most, but what do I know? My initial thoughts of 20-25k was blown out of the water, I was just hoping everyone was so into MARIO & N64 that the PS1 games might still slip through, I mean it's rare no doubt ( which imho Mario is not) but I didn't think the interest or big money was onto PS1 just yet, seems I was wayyyyyyy off as this game might break a few records...damn!
  10. If it goes for a 100K I am not going to have it in my collection lol, I was hoping maybe 20k lol
  11. I agree it really doesn't matter where this game is from( or any game for that matter ) Dreamer, NY collection whatever I 100% percent agree the pedigree is not going to have any impact on the final sale price. What will have an impact is how rare the game is. I am going to make a run at it but I know I have very little of chance adding this to my collection. I reached out to a few collectors and asked what would be a legit bid and even the lowest bid was a bit of a shock ( but who knows they could be wrong) I am not a sealed or graded game guy & there are only a handful of games I would like to have graded or sealed and this is one of them. Coming from a comic background I am a big fan of the cover artist & IMHO this is among the most significant games and box variations from the ps1 era. Damn sue is a lot less of these then most Mario games lol
  12. I think the name is ok, much better then the NY collection or the Ohio collection, at least its not a city, I have a buddy who talked to someone at Heritage and it seems the collection was loaded with rare sealed game ( he thinks they said over 400) so someone was dreaming of something back in the day. They named a huge comic collection the promise collection so I guess it fits right in lol
  13. I don't care what they call this collection, What a thing of beauty and unlike a lot of the recent RECORD SALES this bad boy really does deserve to be called rare, I remember looking for this game back when it first hit and even then the long box version were few and far between, I mean dreamer or not who the hell could resist not opening & playing this bad boy! I would bet my house we are not going to hit a million but it sure as hell would not surprise me if it hits a 100k plus.
