  1. If you pre-order for delivery, the shipments can come from anywhere. They try and ship them from a Best Buy that is as close as possible. And as close as possible can be a few states away. I have packaged shipments that were for delivery on the other side of the country. It wasn't a pre-order item but more that we were the only Best Buy that had said item in stock at the time.
  2. I am very curious about how the finish is gonna happen. I know we won't have a "eye pulled from socket" finish, my money is on a bloody gouge with the loser of the match holding their hand over the wound. With Bruce Prichard on creative we can expect anything though.
  3. The MJR Crew seems to get a fair amount of hate. The "price increase" thing for one, but I feel that is not their fault. The gaming culture in general has boomed over the last decade causing many people to get into the hobby, thus causing scarcity. But like any hobby it ebbs and flows. I know at some point many people will start to get out again causing prices to lower once more. I also feel that MJR's "Buying Guide" videos are great for people that are new to the hobby. And having people interested in the same hobby is not a bad idea, take this forum for example.
  4. I know some people feel they are the reason the prices of games are going up. If you see a video for underrated/hidden gem games, many comments under it complain about them causing the price hikes. I think there might some truth to that a little bit, but I mostly think prices have been going up over the last decade because more people are joining the hobby of collecting. Twenty years ago I had trouble finding people that collected where I live, now I can throw a rock and hit a collector 50% of the time. The best part of the retro Youtubers IMO is learning how to repair all my broken consoles and games. That is information that all collectors should have access to.
  5. The title says it all. Do you feel Retro Gaming Youtubers are Good or Bad for the Hobby? I feel it's a mixed bag, but mostly good. What say you?
  6. I know for a fact the top one for GameCube was a tech demo. We got it in at Game Stop when I worked there. It came out a few months before the release of the GameCube in a press kit. Tech demo was written of the tape. I remember watching that tech demo play over and over when I was working there...Then Windwaker came out and people were pissed. Then again they didn't know WindWaker was gonna be awesome.
  7. I will buy a CIB but I will not buy a Sealed game because of this reason. If I can't look at the cart/Disc before I buy it, then I'm out.
  8. Just an FYI guys, I work at Best Buy in the Warehouse and I am one of the people that packages your pre-orders. All "ship to home" pre-orders are sent the day before release. I have heard of cases of people not getting their pre-orders delivered the day the game came out, and that is not on Best Buy but whoever the shipping company is. However, if you pre-order to pick up in store, you will not have issues. I "picked" about a dozen copies of Ghosts of Tsushima, and a half dozen Paper Mario's today. All ready for customers right as the store opened. We did not have any of the self, because we did not have a "planogram" for it. But we generally have about 5-10 extra copies after pre-orders. If you can't find something released that day, ask at customer service and they can generally hook you up. All words in "Quotes" are Best Buy Warehouse terms. If you any questions on how things work at Best Buy, I would be happy to answer any questions.
  9. I remember hearing a rumor recently that Kojima secured the rights to Silent Hills from Konami. Anyone else hear that?
  10. I think I knew the same guy. Smooth talker, but kinda an a-hole...At least the guy I knew was. Lol.
  11. Anyone think Xtreme Rules is gonna be any good this Sunday?
  12. My favorite video game print ad of all time. Great ad, bad game.
  13. The concept appeals to me...just not my wallet. Now I just collect what I know I will actually play. I'm much happier about my collection now. Smaller but easier to manage.
  14. I remember those days. I passed on a lot of stuff because there was no guarantee it would work. I even passed on a TurboGrafx in box with four games for like $10. I wish I hadn't.
  15. Haven't heard of it. But I'm gonna watch it now! Thanks for the tip.
  16. @doner24 Don't know if you saw in another thread but @Gloves was done dirty and sent a bad copy of Super Mario Sunshine. We need to hook him up somehow. Send word to the four corners of the forums!
  17. Because of my time constraints I pulled all the RPG's and very long games out of my backlog. I'll put them back when I retire. Lol.
  18. Don't get me wrong, I have been buying games since the 80's. But I would sell my current gen stuff to buy whatever the new thing was. NES sold to buy the SNES, and SNES sold to buy my Playstation, so on and so forth. I didn't decide to start buying and keeping the stuff until the Summer of 1999. I have an insane amount of respect for people that bought games as kids and teenagers and never sold them.
  19. I was thinking about this the other day. Most of the collectors I know started collecting within the last 10 years or so during the big "Game Collecting Boom" on the 20'Teens. I started collecting in 1999 a few months before the release of the Dreamcast. I realized I missed my NES games while watching the sneak peeks at the new games coming that fall. It was mostly the 8 bit graphics I missed. I had a weekend job while in high school, so I had money to burn. I went to a local flea market and found a vendor selling NES games for a dollar. YES! All games were just one dollar each! I picked up all the Mario games, all the Castlevania games, Contra, TMNT, Zelda, Double Dragon, Battle Toads, etc. I bought 20 games and an NES for $30! I continued to go back to that flea market and buy games for about a year. I even picked up a game I never heard of called Little Samson. What could it hurt, it's only a dollar. Did you start game collecting before the new millennium, or in more recent years? And what got you into collecting?
  20. I REALLY want this as a poster.
  21. There seems to be many of us in this bracket on the forums. Maybe we should start a support group...Oh yeah, no time.
  22. How much for Super Mario Sunshine? Asking for a friend. Lol. Looks good! Congrats.
  23. Fantastic film! I feel it is a very under appreciated movie. I watched it all the time as a kid. Not in my top 10 but maybe top 25. One of Val Kilmers best roles.
