    Metroid Prime

I dearly love this series. It was magic when I first played it when it launched. And it's still magic today. The sense of exploration and isolation was amazing. I loved tagging everything and reading the lore of the world. I generally hate FPS, but this was transformative for me. Can't wait to play through them all again.
  2. I think maybe McFarlane was making toys or sculptures or something based on SC properties at the time and Spawn was in his twilight, so it might have been a meager attempt to keep him relevant.
  3. Interesting. I guess I missed that one. I'll have to check it out! Thanks!
  4. I'm playing through Tomb Raider III again and it strikes me that the first four TR offerings are absolutely incredible for their time and are still immensely fun to play, but they suffer greatly from their polygonal rendering limitations. I'd love to see what these games are like with modern graphic capabilities. I realize there have been new TR games for various systems, but they all seem to suffer from the suck. Meanwhile these first four games are magic in my mind and would be gobsmacking if translated into the modern aesthetic. Have I missed something and this is already out there or is there a reason that we have revisted the likes of FFVII (unnecessarily) and not Tomb Raider?
  5. Pitfall II (VCS). Got it for Christmas and spent so many hours with my dad trying to beat it. (He had snuck and played it a BUNCH before giving it to me for Christmas that year, so he looked like a pro right out of the box! Scoundrel!). Just watched my 7 year old son beat it for the first time this week. Will always be my first love (sorry LoZ...)
  6. Legend of Zelda Adventure of Link Castlevania Mario Golf64 Final Fantasy Love then all and could put in any one of them and play it through right now.
  7. Yeah, the ice world still crushes me. I don't remember it being that hard when I was a kid and could run through this game in a relatively short amount of time. Now I'm lucky to get to Wart at all without a warp. I still love it though and I play it regularly. You'll never convince me that it's not SMB2. I like Lost Levels for the crushing challenge, but this is SMB2 in my heart. I used Luigi most of the time! Rarely use Mario. I used to have a trick to get lots of 1UPs from the slot machine, but I've lost since lost the knack.
  8. Yeah, I guess I wasn't paying attention, but I only just found out this is just the very beginning of the game, thus Part 1 of who knows how many parts. That pretty much kills it for me. I can play the whole game right now on my PS1, which I paid $60 (?) for originally, or I can play a fraction of the game for the same price and just when things are getting good, I'll get a "to be continued..." screen. I'm already not in the love with the graphic redo (and I am apparently alone in that camp), and the retcons sound troubling (especially the one about you know who), so I think I can live with and love the original as it, and let this version dazzle the rest of the population. I will be interested to hear what the general consensus is as this goes forward.
  9. I beat the GB one first and expected a similar experience with the original, but boy was I wrong. The original is wicked harder and took me far longer to beat. I think I prefer the GB game, but I will still take runs at the NES one from time to time. I don't usually get super far. Kid Icarus is a game that demands some determination. Well done!
  10. Took out Castlevania Circle of the Moon. It was brutally hard and the Battle Arena just didn't happen for me this time. Dracula was actually easier than I expected. Good game, though. Satisfied my SotN itch.
  11. Started Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility for a change of pace. It's pretty impressively good. Relaxing farming to ease my troubles.
  12. Trying to finish out Castlevania Circle of the Moon, but man is it hard! I don't know that I've ever beaten it before, despite making a good run at the GBA Castlevanias when they first hit. The Battle Arena is just stupid and I'm getting killed by the Doppleganger. Currently tracking down whatever DSS cards I'm missing in hopes I will grind enough and get enough powers that I can finally push through.
  13. yeah, I know. I do much better on the original. It I have beaten many times over. This is only my second go for Super Metroid. Metroid 2 is amazingly deep for a GB title. I'm tempted to fire it up next!

    Joy-Con drift

Yes, no matter how many I buy, refurb, or clean, the drift always returns. So I bought a pro-controller, a SNES pad and an NES pad so I can minimize the number of games that actually need the blasted things, and then buy one pair for just those games. It's the only thing I am annoyed by on the Switch.
  15. Finished Super Metroid last night with 70% in 8:36. I guess I need to play this more often..
