Live Band Shows!

What are some bands you have seen live? What are some you plan to in the future?

Just purchased some tickets to see Killswtich Engage and August Burns Red in March! I recently missed out on Tooliji (cover band for Tool) even though I had a ticket for it. Heard they are an amazing tribute from my friend.

On the top of my head, I've seen Blink 182, Killswitch Engage (5 times), Code Orange, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Pantera, Metallica, Alter Bridge, Nothing More (2 times), The Devil Wears Prada, Parkway Drive, Chelsea Grin, Buckethead and many others.

ABR is amazing live. That will be a great show.

Recently I saw Strung Out for the 5th or 6th time. They are still amazing live.

Glad to hear it! Love their music.

No one comes here, but I saw Gojira in 2009 at a small venue and it was awesome. Small shows are so much better than arenas.

Gojira must be so hardcore live. Definitely a band I wanna see in the future. Yeah, totally dig the small shows too. I went to see Disturbed and the crowd was waaay too massive, more tight security and just really hectic getting in. With small venues, it is hassle free and you are able to see the band so close.

I'm all over the board (except I clearly lean towards one particular band). Greta Von Fleet, Dave Matthews Band (25+), Three Dog Night, CSNY, O.A.R., String Cheese Incident, Phish, KISS, Snoop Dogg, Bruce in the USA, Umphrey's McGee, various cover bands, Kid Cudi, Smash Mouth, Eddie Money, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Buddy Guy. I also saw a Jimi Hendrix tribute concert where multiple artists came out and played a song that had an influence on them. Zakk Wylde was easily the best of the bunch.

I missed out on Van Halen and the 80s hair band scene so getting to experience some solid cover bands over the last few years has been pretty cool.

What's upsetting is my list of bands I never saw but now won't because someone passed away; Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, Beastie Boys (probably my favorite band/group ever), and GWAR.

Last band I saw was Ghost.  Going to see Slayer this Friday in Springfield, MA.  On that same note, I have an extra GA ticket if someone wants to go (will be less than the going price).

My favorite shows:

1. Fear Factory w/ Mastadon in 2004

2. Metallica 2003 Summer Sanitarium Tour (w/ Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Deftones, Mudvayne)

3. Megadeth w/ Exodus in 2004.

4. Soilwork w/ Mnemic and Threat Signal in 2006.

5. Megadeth Gigantour 2005 (w/ Dream Theater, Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan, Nevermore)

6. Fear Factory Demanufacture 20 Year Anniversary Tour 2016 (with Soilwork)

I know I'm missing a few, but these stand out for me.

I have a running list of bands I've seen live. It's nearing 100 bands.

The last concert I saw was Pallbearer opening for Baroness. I've seen that exact lineup twice. Not a fan of Baroness, but Pallbearer is one of my all-time favorites so I catch them any time I can at any capacity. (In fact, that was my 7th time seeing them).

I know they got some flack on the old NA thread, but I'm a big Nightwish fan (particularly their old stuff), so their Decades tour a year ago was fun. It was great hearing classics with a competent singer again (I was not a fan of Annette but I tolerated her). That was my 8th time seeing them.

One of the best shows I've ever seen was Noisem, Exhumed, Obituary, then Carcass as the headliner. Amazing show.

Some of my favorite bands I've seen live other than those two are:

  • Bell Witch
  • Witch Mountain
  • Electric Wizard
  • Delain
  • Sonata Arctica
  • Cannibal Corpse
  • Cattle Decapitation
  • As I Lay Dying
  • Soreption
  • Eluveitie

Seen several more, but those are some that stand out immediately.

One of my favorite bands, Swallow the Sun, has been near me twice in the past five years but every time there's been some sort of conflict that forces me to miss it. Maybe sometime in the next few years...

My bucket list band would be to see My Dying Bride.

Just went to my friend, Tyler Childers’ 2 concerts in Minneapolis this weekend and got to catch up with him and his band after the first night. Crazy to see how much he’s blowing up this last year after seeing him in front of 10 people as recently as 2017. Now he’s in the process of selling out Madison Square Garden with Sturgill Simpson.

HORSE the band just announced three shows in December in California and I'm really upset I can't make it happen. I drove 10 hours to see them in Dallas a few years ago and it was so worth it.

I have considered flying to a US show if I really have to, such a great band.

Just got back from Slayer.

Phil Anselmo and the Illegals played a Pantera set of 8 songs with no songs from Cowboy From Hell...kind of disappointed but it was good to hear "Pantera" live.  Ministry was something else.  Definitely need to check out more of their stuff.  Primus killed it.  And of course, Slayer.  20 songs of craziness.  Definitely had a great time.
