Hi All.

Our next Video game, Comic and TCG auction is starting shortly on November 20th. We have a large selection of Sealed Games from NES to Modern available to bid on in both WATA and VGA Holders, the auction will be up and running on our new and improved website shortly! This auction is going to have much more affordable lots then our last auction while maintaining the high level of quality that Goldin is known for.

We also are rolling out a new referral program! For anyone who connects us to a new successful consigner 1% of hammer price of the consigned lots will be given to you. All you need to do is make the connection! If anyone is interested in this program please feel free to reach out to me! Were looking for premium consignments for our Jan/Feb 2022 Premium Elite auction. There will be a much higher overall value in the auction with it more closely replicating our last auction with the 9.4 Sonic 1 and Mario Hangtab.

For anyone unaware of my position I am Goldins video game specialist and consignment director.

Thanks so much - Dom

Too busy for us? Guess they always forget the little guys when they make it to the big time.

Not at all! Thats why Im here! He wanted to make sure everyone here was taken care of. If he doesn't build the auction theres no auction to have and were on a pretty tight timeline.

Hopefully that $1,000 minimum bid will be axed because it's stupid as hell and feels like icky micromanaging

Nah, I actually like this. They start the bid at a non-zero number (but still way below the FMV), so it scares off potential bidders.

Same deal with ebay auctions, not sure why you would ever start at anything other than $0.99. I've managed to snipe quite a number of them where the seller started it much too high (but still undervalued), so it scared off the other bidders and the ebay algo shoved it down the toilet.

I'm torn.

I don't like those minimum bids because it's on a big auction platform, with plenty of visibility and big marketing budgets. It isn't like ebay listings with not enough keywords or some shit. It comes off quite presumptive too, as if to say a 20k minimum will prescribe a higher price by default (which, to be fair, is usually true based on market price).

On the other hand, it can help set expectations appropriately. My personal feelings on the matter are kind of irrelevant anyway.

@OptOut
I am here my friends.
Working to try and make Goldin better for all.
@Domuhnator is a legend and can help.

This auction will be lower dollar and for the masses. All types of stuff in the sale - if you guys have any non-video game questions let me know. Otherwise Dom can certainly help with consignments/information/banter.

Jared sent his underling after us when he realized no one from here submitted in the last auction 😒

Lol, Not quite. But we value all members of the community wether they are consigners or not.

Question for future me: do y'all prefer consignments be graded ahead of time? E.g., we can't submit a raw game and have Goldin take care of all the grading (assuming we would pay for it, but still)?

We can absolutely get games graded for you. We will front the grading cost and take out of your auction proceeds. We do this for a-lot of consigners.

We might adjust it for certain categories that are not as developed. But at the end of the day we are a premium auction house offering premium product. So for games the $1000 minimum most likely wont change.

Good to hear, Jared. There are a lot of non-rich folks who want to get into collecting. They can pay a lot for a game, but not mid-four-figures and above.

OK, though I have never paid four figures for a sealed-and-graded game and my collection could easily be sold at Goldin.

I have many, many premium games—and they did not cost $1,000. I get that you want to goose your revenue but don't tell sealed-and-graded retro game collectors that premium games always cost over $1,000. They don't.

That minimum of course works—is fine—for games that you expect will go for $5,000 or over, but you are selling games that on other auction sites are going for $700 to $900 and you're doing so with a $1,000 minimum, which is insulting to those of us who research carefully before spending money on anything.

I'm giving you free advice in telling you that you are cutting down on your potential audience and fan club and consumer base by not having a sub-section of games with either no minimum or a $500 minimum.

If Heritage Auctions can be a premium auction house with no minimums, I think that Goldin—which has conducted all of *one* video game auction ever—can manage a sub-section of your catalog with $500 mins. Otherwise it looks like you are setting as a *floor* for certain games a price that is above their value. Not a good look for a business that relies on goodwill among a community that shares information fluidly.

But in any case, it's good to know that Goldin thinks Heritage—which has no mins—*isn't* a premium auction house.
