fcgamer 4,505 Member ·
Just discovered a 16 in 1 multicart featuring Konkey Kong Jr, Din Dun, Treasure, Star War, and a few other game title screen hacks. Never saw these name hacks before until today. Enjoy! 5

MegaMan52 2,234 Member ·
Yeah, I've seen "Din Dun" on my 110 in 1 multicart (game 82) and have noticed that the Donkey Kong games have been called "Key Kong" or "King Kong" (heh): Speaking of multicart hacks, @fcgamer, I like the Hello Kitty Dig Dug hack on the 64 in 1 multicart you gave me earlier this year: Edited September 12, 2021 by MegaMan52

LOL Some of it is that, and some I think is just misreading/mistranslating the title screens. If you look at the title screen of the Famicom Millipede, it does look like Millpecle, especially if your TV is fuzzy.

That's certainly the case with Circus Charlie / Chablie I've heard rumours some multicart menus on later 9999999999 or whatever in 1 randomly generated different name titles creating essentially some word salad names.
RH 4,545 Member ·
It always amazed me that these companies didn't mind blatantly ripping off these roms but felt the need to hack the titles. I'm sure this has to do with localized, useless copyright or trademark laws, but if you're going to steal a ROM and simply mod 4-16 bytes, why bother when it's obvious it's stolen IP to begin with?
Tanooki 4,892 Member ·
Love stuff like this. I had some of those on the supervision 115in1 I used to own some years back. I think a few of those cracked out names are on this 111in1 that came with this weird penguin looking famiclone that I found a few years back. System was garbage, kept the game and it's fold out sheet with the fun names on it though.

I saw it a few weeks ago and thought - "hey, that's the creepy penguin system that Tanooki has!". -CasualCart

Tanooki 4,892 Member ·
Serious, then fun. I don't really feel like scanning this, but I guess is it less lazy I'm typing this? The paper sheet has the same awesome titles the on screen menu has on this 111in1. Such highlights as... Tenage Nutant Pyper Olympic 10 Yr Qsl Slacom Moc Hellicopter (satan's ride?) Space ET Baloon Fighter Five Chess Orchard Kavass Spellunker Mo Ya Jin (Moai Kun) Gyrodinge Sasa Pony Cat (this could be ever girls dream pet...half pony half kitty?!) -- Onyanko Town? Cheallenger And out of order, but more appropriate to end on... Dongkey Kong <-- yeah time to update your image isn't it? Well? (Yet they get Donkey Kong 2 and 3 spelled right) Hey look it's Sanik's 'special' monkey friend. Gutta goo fasht! Demipenguin is watching...intently.
a3quit4s 3,794 Member ·
I like on the 16 in 1 screen it’s dig dug but the title screen has it as din dun or whatever it is. I’m glad to see that even in the 80’s marketing and development were not on the same page. Edited September 13, 2021 by a3quit4s
