Not a problemo. And from what I originally found Panesian is no longer a softcore porn making video games. So any rights they have goes to their successor, MAG. And since MAG makes computer hardware (giggity) any data they had involving this game might be gone. Which would explain why it will be impossible to prove digital piracy is an issue here.

Damn, the company still exists? That's bananas. I would've guessed they were a fly by night operation that disappeared into history.

Yeah. And its a shame that I have no plans going to visit their location. Because I would totally like to ask them why they never made a fourth game before I am escorted out.

I wouldn't have expected a 6th print to break $100k. That 9.4 gloss sticker seal for $105k looks like a bargain now.

It’s not even the sixth print run. Its the sixth print variation. A small difference with massive implications.

There are in between print runs where everything stays the same except for the dates on the chips of the board...then after October 1987 things really get crazy with the introduction of date codes on the manual and box.

I think WATA did a great job introducing the world to variants, but they were about a year short for discovery of what a *true* print run means for the NES.

Zoom into that super Mario bros, multiple holes/rips and scratches, don't know much about wata grading but it's far from mint.

Same with the 8.0 A that went for $40,200 recently. As the saying goes, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Why someone wants to pay $114k for a mid production SMB, is beyond me, but there had to be at least two people bidding to get it that high. A 9.6 CIB 5th production sold for $2880 back on March 6th. I'm not paying an extra $111,120 for shrinkwrap, but that's just me.

Who are these people, and where do they get all their money is what I want to know. Are these really just comic book collectors getting into this? If that's the case I didn't know there were so many incredibly rich comic book collectors with money to waste like this.

I dunno. I guess that's literally the million dollar question.

Browsing HA for stuff I'm not going to buy, and here's my wtf of the day. 18 days to go and we're at $400. I get that for whatever reason people prefer console games to PC, but are we really going to pretend the Call of Duty Finest Hour, the "first console COD" actually had any kind of historical relevance, lol. It's not even considered part of the main series, it's a spinoff! What's next, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, the first console Battlefield game? The Sims on PS2, the first console Sims game?

It's not the price that gets me so much as people essentially trying to rewrite video game history to pretend this is important.

The 8.5 oval seal Mike Tyson's Punch Out is at $14k already. You could get a 8.5 CIB for under $1000. I just don't get paying that kind of a premium to get something sealed.

I don’t have much of an issue of the labelling of “first console COD”. My issue is more the idiots who think this is a big deal or expecting mega profits in the foreseeable future.

Hopefully you can inform us what the end price of this item will be. Just for more giggles.

I love how if your game is shit this is the description it gets:

But otherwise you get one o' these novels:

Note the SEO going on here "... most influential video game..." etc.

I love also all the "this is the first X we haev EVER offered" like bro you've been selling games on your platform for less than a year.

This is the first Spongebob game we've EVER sold!

This is the first instance of a Spyro game on any Heritage Auction site in the history of man!

People sending in games worth $0 are just throwing literal shit at the wall to see what sticks. Plenty of games previously accepted as worthless have sold for $100s simply based on the "Oh I recognize that" factor, lol.

I assume someone just trying to make a profit too, but it isn't always that way.  Sometimes you just send in stuff to see how it will grade and learn the scale.  If I were a "rookie investor" in video games and trying to learn the scale, what better way than to send in junk titles (probably bought under $10) and under the select tier ($25 or $35 a game?) and see how it grades.  Then just send it to an auction and hope to break even.

I'm not saying that's what's happening here (it's probably someone looking for a quick buck off Spongebob), but there could be a rational explanation at least.

I can fully understand the motives in your first paragraph, with trialling of the grading process on a cheap game.

The second paragraph “someone looking for a quick buck” for a crap cheap game to sell on HA and expecting profits is nothing else but lunacy. It might make more sense if this person was testing the upper limits of buyer lunacy by selling on HA a Spongebob game.
