DefaultGen | 5,400 Posted November 4, 2019 Share Posted November 4, 2019 I like that a pretty good sealed Aladdin sold for $150 on HA, where prices are normally dumb especially for common/popular stuff. I'm guessing they are very rare sealed and borderline impossible in that condition (given the $37k price). I tried to find a quality CIB Mega Man with the Captain Commando sticker about 7-8 years ago and those were going for around $400 then and I rarely saw sealed copies come up in my eBay searches. When it was discussed on NA most people thought it was worth "at least $35k" anyway. Trying to guess an exact spot is kinda pointless, someone will just have to bid whatever it is worth to them if they wanted to win it. Sad story, I was the underbidder on that exact game when it was auctioned raw on eBay 3-4 years ago? @Jedisam2013 won it for like $6500 or $7k IIRC and I was #2. I was, and remain skeptical, but when an oval seal Tyson goes for 12k or whatever, anything’s possible. I think that Contra is headed for 15-20k, myself. One, I sold a raw that went 9.4 / A a couple of months ago lower than the bid price already. I don't regret the sale at all, I'm just continually amazed that people cannot seem to accurately assess raw grades. It was on eBay with crickets. I've learned to just submit my raw stuff that I know is 9.4 or better because calling it "Near Mint" on ebay apparently doesn't motivate people. And more importantly, this is clearly mislabled as a no Rev-A. It's a Rev-A and clearly marked on the front cover. Bronty’s Sticker Mario (or the other gloss seal that I had no idea existed until yesterday) A First Print Zelda (No REV-A, with TM after the NES logo instead of (R) and a first print Mega Man...that is to say it has the Captain Commando Sticker AND the Dr. Wright typo on the back of the box. ...you can probably throw white dot Mike Tyson’s up there now. I'd put Castlevania Hangtab up there as well. That's on par with Mega Man Dr Wright imo and MTPO, at least imo. We live in a world where golf is a five figure item. I'm a huge Mega Man fan admittedly but it has never rivaled Mario and Zelda. Kind of like N64 to NES / SNES... has a cult following but a more segmented market than NES / SNES which are more mainstream. Megaman is the same way compared to Mario and Zelda which get AAA releases (often launch releases) at every new console generation. Also, just to remind people before the debates ensue, one data point does not equal market value. Some auctions go low and some go high, and market value is best estimated at a range, maybe plus / minus 10 to 20 percent. I.e. you don't say a game is worth $50k, you'd say it's probably worth $40-$60k and competitive snipes would register there.
