A lot of the other hard to find games have been on the second hand market and went through kids hands, non collectors hands, and GameStop where a lot of them have lost their cases and manuals or just tossed them. Barbie Gloom and Glam pups definitely will be harder to find barring a reprint or a pallet of new old stock being found IMO. Some I’d say MAY possibly be harder to find complete and definitely sealed would be Alien Chaos 3D, Heavy Fire, Crash City Mayhem, Girls Fashion Shoot, Fire Emblem Special Edition, FIFA 14, etc... That’s not to say that I think the Atooi collection will be plentiful. I think it will be up there, but since almost all end up in Collectors hands they won’t be lost and will be well taken care of with the majority remaining sealed. Apparently most people don't want the Atooi collection since it's still available. Those Yo Kai games (Dog/Cat Busters & Yo Kai 3) must of had a super small print run and are hard to find. DeuceGamer | 35
I think it’s mostly hard core collectors that are interested in the Atooi Collection. The mainstream gaming market has either moved on, or probably had plenty of Nintendo 1st Party titles they can still choose from and even if the mainstream audience would be interested in the Atooi Collection, they probably aren’t even aware of Limited Run Games. koifish | 546
I find myself in a rabbit hole of new 3ds plates. Every time I think I found them all, another set comes to my attention. Osomatsu-San had a bundle that included a console, several inserts, exclusive cover plates, and the game. Pokemon Centers in Japan sold primal groudon and primal kyogre bundles (with exclusive plates for each). Another of the "cute" line includes the "madras check" console with, you guessed it, an exclusive plate set. And a Disney game, Magic Castle 2: My Happy Life, got two LE sets for XL and regular n3ds, resulting in another exclusive plate set. I also checked and unless the nintendo website just stopped updating, there are more "standard" plates I thin that aren't listed, namely, the "spring yoshi" set which is made to match the system theme (which IIRC is named the same). Yet I am probably still missing more.

Someone just brought it up back in the day in NA and it stayed in the conversation ever since. Dual pen sports is more scarce than Crash City. Try to add thousands of copies to your cart. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it could be a stock indicator. Reg edition now at 248 CE at 397 Definitely moving slow. Though that could mean the prospectors and resellers stayed away. So the immediate second-hand market would be less flooded.

Never said it’s the same as Alien Chaos, but we also can’t pretend it’s “readily available” when there is only a single copy available at $150. The bottom line is it is hard to find and I do believe it will be harder to find then Atooi Collection, especially in complete/sealed condition. 99% of copies made for Atooi collection will be near mint complete or sealed in 10 years, where as that’s simply not the case for Crash City Mayhem. Also the value has absolutely nothing to do with how hard to find it is. Quoting the price is completely irrelevant. I know I had no problem getting a sealed copy of Crash City but it took me years to find on of Alien Chaos. The copy listed now has a troll price and considering 3 CIB copies sold in the last week, it definitely was readily available. Also, the price does play a part at auction. If more collectors want a game, the higher the price will go. 16 bids got laid down for that copy of Alien Chaos and it started at $1 which means ppl knew it is truly scarce while 2 bids on Crash City came in, no bidding war really shows ppl are willing to wait a week or two until the next CIB copy comes up. Like I said, I have them both sealed so it's in my best interest to hype them both up but I truly think someone on NA threw it out there along with a couple others that just stuck. I think it's an uncommon game but it doesn't deserve the hype that it gets. Like I said, Dual Pen Sports could easily over take its spot if someone snatched up what's fs on eBay now and listed their cib copy for $150. DeuceGamer | 35
Anyone interested in variants? That’s a non argument as nobody is denying that. It’s probably a top 3 hard to find game on the 3DS. It doesn’t mean Crash City Mayhem isn’t also hard to find, though less so than Alien Chaos. I do believe Alien Chaos is decently harder to find, but the funny thing is I’ve actually came across and owned more copies of Alien Chaos than I have Crash City. I’m sure that’s mostly down to anecdotes, but when it comes to games that aren’t widely available it also shows how much difference there can be from one area to another IMO. Regarding it being readily available last week, that doesn’t mean it always is as it’s not readily available now at market value. The reason I mentioned the $150 price was to point out the only copy available is several times higher than market value, which kind of takes it out of the running for anyone who has any sense of the 3DS market to consider it. No idea what hype it has as I’m not basing it on other people’s opinions. This is just what I’ve noticed myself while hunting games. It’s way early in the 3DS lifecycle so lots can change, but right now I don’t see it pop up when I’m at game shops often at all.

You know what's crazy? My local Kmart had stacks of these games before they stopped selling video games as a whole. AlienChaos, Crash City and Cubic Ninja all $15 each. I think that's part of the reason these games are uncommon. It's mainly bc they were designed to be bargain bin games sold as big box stores. Big lots had some weird titles too. I don't know what happens to overstock from those stores but I'm sure most of those games ended up in some sort of a liquidation sale of some sort. Maybe that’s why they are hard to find now. Possibly it’s the only retail store they ended up in because I do not recall seeing most of those in any of the other major retailers, or even GameStop new. Maybe I missed them, but maybe that was the only retailer that was willing to take a chance on them lol.
yellowgameboycolor | 22
I got so lucky on Gamestop last year I ordered Yo Kai Watch Blasters White Dog Squad, Red Cat Corps, and Alien Chaos 3D all from their website. I don't know how they were in stock but I remember checking their pages every few days or so since I found out about the games. When I ordered them, Alien Chaos was cart only, WDS was "new" but had no sticker seal or plastic seal, and Red Cat Corps was cart only with a Gamestop case. Just thought it was super weird but still happy nonetheless.
koifish | 546
I think my mania may finally be over: I found a website finally that catalogs all of the cover plates released, and it blows my mind what I found therein. It looks like, not only were there all the plates I had found, but there were also a few more game tie-ins I had never seen, AND there was a series of plates created for European cover plate design contest winners, AND there were (5) sets of plates made exclusively as winner prizes for Super Smash Bros. tournaments. I now feel safe to say that completing a set of 3DS cover plates would be all but impossible; There can't be more than a very small number (maybe even just one set) of those tournament plate sets, and who knows where you'll find them. I guess you could just tie yourself to the commercially available ones, at least then you have some hope. Anyway, here's the site. All the "who knew that even existed" plates are on page 3. https://nintendowire.com/new-3ds-cover-plates/ The only thing that bothers me is that this site doesn't have the Osomatsu-San plate set listed. If they're incomplete, then who knows what other plates are still out there? A scary thought

koifish | 546
I'd be a bit surprised myself, in my experience it's the space between the end of a system's lifespan and before it's around 20 years old that stuff is the cheapest. You're probably in a good place to start, just not as good if it comes to those few and far between rare games that explode in price early. If anything, those games will probably only get more expensive, so I would think you're still in good position. 20 minutes ago, ChickenTendas said: I love how the plates go from innocent stripes to the horror that is the Squirtle anteater Yeah, no matter the rarity, some of them are amazing and other ones are just ugly. It's easier to buy now rather than in a couple years but I feel like it's already not as cheap as I was hoping it to be. I managed to find a lot of good deals here in Brazil but I already had to import some games and will have to buy a lot more in the US. If only the borders were open, I would definitely go to the US and would save a lot on shipping. 23 minutes ago, ChickenTendas said: Groom and Glam Pups is going to be a bitch Seems like there are a lot of us looking for it lol My biggest chance is if one appears here in Brazil but if in the US it's extremely rare already, here it will be almost impossible.
