GTA V (and other GTA) Black Label prices

Recommended Posts

I have been following these games recently as I stumbled across their crazy prices. It appears these are legit sales due to the amounts of bids. I picked up a copy for $23 hoping it was legit and I had hit on something luckily but I do not know for sure if this is true. I understand the first are graded, but even the lone copy is $150 and I’ve seen PS3 versions go for $250. Here are some completed listings. I have seen Vice City, GTA 3 and San Andreas all in the similar price ranges.

Yeah, I’ve seen quite a few of the “not for resale” selling for that though. This was just one example. There’s plenty on eBay if you search... THAT was my concern or question. The OG true black label I understand. But legit if you search there are NUMEROUS of the “not for resale” being sold for decent money

in the current market I would not trust prices for nonsense like the trilogy set boxes, sealed 3DS pokemon games, and so on to hold up for any amount of time. those prices seem really super likely to be a bubble that's gonna burst at some time.

if you want to roll the dice and try flipping a few short term and hoping you aren't the one left holding the bag, hey, no-one can stop you. but IMHO they would make really awful long-term investments.

it's much more difficult to figure out if the current high prices for things that more clearly are desirable to people who actually want to own them and not just speculate with them will hold up. So things like the actual original prints of GTA games, earlier Pokemon games, stuff like that. None of them is that rare, and to the folks here who've been around a long time, the current prices seem crazy. But they do have a higher chance of holding out long-term than stuff no-one who actually cares about collecting games would be interested in for more than $10.

I get the high prices for legit first editions, but the ones that came in the three pack sets being graded and selling for high prices is bogus IMO.  But there are a lot of un-informed new collectors with cash to drop I guess.  Crazy times for sure.

I think some of it is that people are wanting graded games these days and, in part, they are paying for the grading process in a listing like this. Sending it in, getting it graded and waiting is $100/game for WATA these days. So if someone wants a graded GTA as a showpiece I don't think it's that over priced.

I hate green labels i don't understand how people are trowing now a lot of money on them. Snes player choice games don't look so bad with the gold ribbon but green labels look awful  I would never collect them.
