MunsonRoyE | 4
Hi All! I came across this J.B. Harold Murder Club disc in a lot of TurboGrafx-16 stuff I purchased off of eBay. It was not pictured or noted in the listing with the other games and when I received it I first thought that the seller had lost the original disc and just burned a copy of the game since it had the original manuals for it. Upon inspecting the disc closely I noticed a few things that lead me to believe that this might not be some junky CD-R copy of the game: The words "Not for sale" and "Sample" are stamped in red on the inside ring of the disc There is no printing whatsoever on the disc and the bottom data layer of the disc is clear like an actual production CD and not colored like some CD-Rs are The holographic square symbols and letters that are present on the inner ring of normal TG-CD games are also on this disc The game booted up and played without issue on my TG-CD system. I have never seen anything quite like this before and I was wondering if this might be an actual Sample / Demo disc of the game? Have other similar discs been found, or is this something unique?
Tanooki | 5,110
While I can't verify your suspicions I will say that you're on the right track from what it appears to be. I don't own any demos, but the markings on the disc are consistent with what a legit game would be, also the bottom not looking like a burnt CDR either but commercial level handling. I would think your best bet would be Turbo Town or this other TG/PCE group on facebook that have some heavy hitters that would have a clue, better yet the pc engine proboards website forum would maybe be an even better bet.

Thanks! I'll check out some of those sites and see if someone there might have more information.
