phart010 | 1,779
What is your interpretation of the way the water is drawn wrapping around the world on all sides? Kind of reminds me of the inner Earth from Terranigma.
CMR | 538
It's interesting artwork. I guess it's meant to imply there is a lot going on in the small space, kind of a way to suggest that it's a big gameboy game. You see a similar theme in Links Awakening art from that same time period. It could also kind of represent looking at the world through a warp pipe or seeing it in a crystal ball. In a crystal ball... kinda reminds me of Warioland 3:
CMR | 538
It's also interesting that the little island in that globe seems to resemble Koholint island. I wouldn't be surprised if this was intentional. The people at Nintendo seem to like making these little easter eggs for people to find.
cartman | 195
I don't see much to it honestly i think it's pretty straight forward with either waves on the water or a splashing reaction. It does look good though.
Berserker | 32
What if the whole world of Super Mario Land 2 is actually within a pipe? Think about it. The water is just along the sides and the sky is the middle.

OptOut | 8,985
Looks like a fisheye kind of effect to me, like Mario as witnessed by a cheap cheap just before being stomped out of existence!
