Khromak | 763
I think I played Shadow of the Ninja for like...15 minutes one time and don't realize why I stopped, it seems like a good game. Gonna give it a shot since I've never beaten it. Thanks for helping me narrow down my next game choice dudes (and dudettes where appropriate)
Tablew/chairs | 225
My work for this weekend: Wizardry Knight of Diamonds after searching for about 2 years i was finally able to buy the strategy guide off ebay a few months ago and it made playing the game so much more enjoyable not having to constantly scroll through a gamefaqs to find the info i wanted also i found this game much less frustrating than the mad overlord 3
nerdynebraskan | 340
Magician is done, and with that I have managed to do at least one game on every day of this month. I'm not sure how many more days I'll be able to continue this streak, but it's been a good one. 3
WashYourFace | 80
Racket Attack done. If they were trying to simulate the feeling of wanting to smash a real life tennis racket in frustration, I say they nailed it. I never want to play this again. scaryice | 565
Looks like we ended up beating 521 games in January. Previous high from 2015 was 504, I believe. 3 1
scaryice | 565
Bandai Golf: Challenge Pebble Beach. With the handicap, I was under par. Which I probably didn't even need to do, since there's no high score or anything (like Nintendo's Golf). But just for my own state of mind, I did it. That's all the 2 pointers now. WashYourFace | 80
So why are Arkanoid and Xevious so low now? Is there some trick to them? Pretty sure I can beat Xevious even though it's hard. But Arkanoid, no way without continuing...
Crabmaster2000 | 499
I'm working on Q*Bert, right now. (I know it has already been beaten for this year). Was browsing the gamefaqs guide and saw that I got a shout out. I have no memory of that, but this guide rocks! Great work @Elkovsky!!
Gaia Gensouki | 1,035
Just beat P.O.W. Prisoners of War. I still had this on the SNK collection.

That's one that I usually beat every year but I'm slacking a bit this year. I never 1cc'd it until playing it for the 2019 contests.
Khromak | 763
I have to apologize in advance because I know this is someone's favorite game from their childhood but...Fuck Shadow of the Ninja, I'm done playing it (at least for now). Calling it a Ninja Gaiden clone is entirely too kind. The hit detection is awful, powerups are lame and uninspired, i-frames/stunning for enemies is inconsistent, it's just a frustrating experience through and through. Someone else can have those 5 points I'm going to spend my evening stapling my nuts to my desk instead.
NESfiend | 1,508
Well, @Daniel_Doyce, I somehow got lucky and acheived the backward diving frisbey catch. It was like hitting the lotto. I feel like I should have been stuck there for days. Thanks for the tips. Still struggling with surfing, but it seems possible now
NESfiend | 1,508
California Games is done. And its a good thing because I dont know that I could ever perform the backwards diving catch again. One for the ages. 2
Gaia Gensouki | 1,035
I'm currently going through Dungeon Magic, but it seems like this is going to be a fairly long playthrough. The beginning was confusing and very difficult, but once you're getting used to the game's mechanics it's actually quite fun.

nerdynebraskan | 340
Well, I broke my streak yesterday because I put two hours into a playthrough of Beetlejuice and then ate shit halfway through. It's been avenged, though, because Beetlejuice is now done.
Daniel_Doyce | 450
I've started AD&D: Dragonstrike, but it's not what I expected at all. It seems to have unlimited continues, so I guess I can power through it with enough time.

Pretty good game.
nerdynebraskan | 340
I'm also down to the last three "Phases" of Wrecking Crew, so I should be finishing that up tomorrow or Thursday.
Strikezone1 | 154
FWIW, and not that anyone cares, but I’ve gotten better at Zanac and have it down pat now. I’ve cleared it 3 more times. I was pretty harsh on the game in my previous posts (my frustration was genuine at the time, lol) but I appreciate it a lot more now. I still don’t think I’m ready to put Zanac in my top-5 NES shmups but the game is a lot better than I gave it credit for, no question. So I figured out that once you lose fully powered up #7 the best strategy is to stick with #0 or #3 the rest of the way. It’s really tough to get #7 maxed out back to full power, and regular #7 is less effective than regular #0 or #3. The last 2 runs I’ve lost fully powered #7 early (like area 4-6) and managed to go the distance no problem. Zanac is a solid game... TAFN, but good. 1

Khromak | 763
Will probably be finishing Puzznic tomorrow (and moving on to Gravnic) so within a few days I should have the whole game done, depending how things go with my schedule otherwise and how obnoxiously difficult the levels are. Very fun puzzle game with really unique, simple mechanics. Reminds me of Fire 'N Ice in that the mechanics are utterly simple but they design the stages to be really tricky. 0xDEAFC0DE | 1,277
Castlequest done I started to do it without looking anything up, but I soon got board. I ended up following the speedrun route.

I think it would take a million years trying to do without any reference/help (although you can legally use the map that comes with the game, and that's really helpful). The thing that sucks (besides no save/password) is I think you can get the game into an unbeatable state (and maybe not know it) and have to start all over. Which reminds me, this is another time a playthrough from @rdrunner helped. I had to use it on one or two spots. 1
