OptOut | 8,966
Hey guys! It's been a full year since my last N64 collection update, where I was able to complete my US exclusives subset: Since then I've made significant inroads into the rest of the franken-set, going for the full PAL set and the Japanese exclusives. So I figured a nice update would be in order! First things first, a BIG bite out of my remaining PAL carts showed up along with my Xmas package from my folks back home: As you can see, MOSTLY crappy sports stuff, naturally, however I got a GREAT price on RUSH 2049 which is actually a heavy hitter in the PAL set. I also got a boxed complete UKV Shadowgate for a steal when covid first kicked off, which happens to be possibly the rarest UKV version game as far as I know. BIG thanks to @Vectrex28 for getting me some of these, especially the rarer European variants of RTL WLS 2000 and Yannick Noah All star Tennis 99, and he ALSO found me that N64 VHS tape there too, lol! I also wanna shout out my mate back in the UK THE WIGGLER, who held on to the rest of these games for me for like MONTHS due to covid related shipping delays! Thanks guys! My goal for the PAL set is almost complete, just ELEVEN more carts until these boxes are full! Moving on to the other side of the collection, if anything things are in even BETTER shape for the Japanese set: I decided, seeing as I was able to buy so many games here so cheaply, to expand my scope from buying just the exclusives to going for the ENTIRE Japanese boxed set. Currently I am only 29 boxed games and 7 boxes away from this target, and local sources are basically tapped out, so I am going to expand my hunt to Japan itself next year. I've got @Vectrex28 on the ground as we speak, and I'd also like to thank @Rooster for his help with a few of these too, especially Animal Forest and Bomberman 64. Oh, also the boxed Hong Kong N64 was an awesome deal from @Tyree_Cooper thanks again buddy! So, that's the State of the Union 2020 on Opty's N64 set I guess! I am targeting 2021 to be the completion of both my remaining PAL cart and Japanese boxed sets, should be doable and it's my absolute collecting priority. Once the WHOLE lot is done, I'll probably make another thread discussing some of my favourite items from each of the sets I've accrued! Cheers guys and happy holidays! fcgamer | 4,985
Slighted once again by this git! Mentioned the German VHS tape he got, but the American one next to it I found and brought back to him this year whilst cleaning out at home. I had the thing since probably 2004 or 2005, so to let it go, and for a song at that, shouldn't be something to be ignored. Brickman | 4,199
Nice work! Do you have snowboard kids 2 yet? I don’t have it but I know that one is pricey. Are you collecting PAL boxes? I always found it weird that the UK boxes are black but Australia used the US designs.

In fact, when it comes to the eleven games left on my list, I THINK the most uncommon is Dual Heroes... Which basically says it all really lol, a bunch of nothing! As for the boxes, well this set is based around my childhood and early collecting days. I came to Taiwan with I think like 56 games as a foundation for my set. All carts, obviously, so I just went from there! Actually, Shadowgate is my ONLY boxed PAL game, other than a flattened Buck Bumble with no inner tray, lolol!

Obviously there is the Disney DDR mat and the N64 fishing rod, which are super cool, but hands down my favourite N64 controller has to be the train one, lol! 23 minutes ago, drxandy said: Nice dood!! Generally speaking tho, it's only a couple super rare heavy hitters left, most of it is still common stuff. Frankly the Japanese N64 set is pretty easy for the vast bulk of it, and I've gotten very lucky on a few of the big games along the way.
fcgamer | 4,985
I was with OptOut when he got the Disney DDR, and my brother and I personally helped track down and get him one of the heavy hitters, at cost, whilst we were in Japan a few years back. Never knew that train controller even existed. That is a very weird, unique, cool controller. That should've been the answer to kokiris exile island question lol.
drxandy | 3,278
I absolutely love weird useless hardware for consoles especially the densha de go set and one day will own it, big box with the mic and the train controller. Same with the Disney ddr. Same with tetris and the biosensor, Oh who am I kidding same with the fishing controller too. I need em, so dang cool. I am casually going for the jpn exclusives too, but am taking it slow.

Friendsfa35 | 35
so a PAL cart with a USA label? it's possible though.... does not have to be fake or anything. same thing here with Athletic World on the NES. which also exists over here with a USA coded front label, and a HOL coded backlabel.

Nah, it's literally just the standard US version, somehow got caught up in the mix. No worries, @Vectrex28 will be punished SEVERELY and unflinchingly for this digression... My reference was more like “eww another Madden cart...if I wasn’t going for the full set....” (quick glimpse, shoves it quickly into storage) Some months later, ”dang, how did this Ntsc cart get into my Pal collection?”
OptOut | 8,966
Oh yeah! Well, I mean I came to terms with that situation of buying shit I'll never play pretty quickly once I decided that I was going for the set. You kinda HAVE to once you get into the fullset mode! I'll just put madden 64 back on my PAL needs list, and that'll be that! At the very least, I can just chuck this US madden cart in with my other US games and forget completely all about it forever and ever and ever... If anything this very conversation is probably more fun than I would have had actually playing the game anyway!!!

a_profile_name | 230
I'm pretty surprised that American football games came out in PAL regions. Probably they are also a bit hard to find because they didn't sell? Maybe that's a conspiracy to make life hard for those going for a full set.
