https://sports.yahoo.com/china-will-host-the-2022-winter-olympics-while-accused-of-genocide-should-the-world-boycott-233310879.html

“To attend a Beijing Olympics can be seen as an endorsement of genocide and crimes against humanity,” says Teng Biao, a Chinese lawyer and activist... Any boycott, Biao says, “would be welcome” and impactful – and the more far-reaching, the more impactful.

The IOC has not publicly addressed the accusations of genocide, nor has it addressed any of China’s abuses with any specificity. And no activist expects that the IOC will. “The IOC just seems to have closed its eyes and wished this had gone away,” Richardson says. In doing so, it’s forced athletes to consider whether their pursuit of Olympic dreams is implicitly harmful. The IOC, Koehler says, is “first and foremost to blame for putting athletes in this position.”

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/02/27/dollars-flood-venezuela-maduro-abandons-socialismo-favour-chinese/

Perched on the mountain range that divides the sprawling city of Caracas from the Caribbean Sea, Venezuela’s Hotel Humboldt can be seen from nearly all corners of the capital...Now, the hotel is open again as a symbol of an impending economic recovery and tourism boom in a country that has suffered the worst economic crisis in modern Latin American history. But the so-called Socialist president’s touting of the luxurious, $300 per night hotel in a country where most live in poverty represents something else to others - an abandonment of a political project promising a socialist utopia in favor of an 'anything goes', capitalist kleptocracy.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/03/01/exclusive-scientists-top-british-universities-worked-chinese/

The joint UK-China projects show how taxpayers could be inadvertently funding research at China’s nuclear weapons programme through science funding grants and use of Britain’s cutting edge government-funded science facilities, including the UK’s national supercomputer, ARCHER, and a £260 million particle accelerator...All the universities involved have insisted that the research was compliant with the Government's legislation, regulations and guidance and their partnerships were subject to stringent checks on security, ethics governance, and intellectual property protection. None of the research had any military use, they said in statements.

I can tell you that their claim that the research had no military application is pure bullshit. It's well known in academia that any cutting-edge scientific research associated with China is always tied in to the Chinese military. Why do scientists do this?

As a senior UK scientist, Dr Teobaldi’s work has benefited from taxpayer-funded grants totalling more than £600,000 and his papers have made repeated use of the ARCHER supercomputer.

Yup, money. China will happily fund research that benefits them in any way-shape-or-form especially when it may give them an edge over their archenemy - the USA. Funny thing, China also considers the UK to be expendable and a threat because of close ties with the USA, but sadly, many academics are FULL OF SHITE.

He has also accepted an award from China’s “Thousand Talents” plan, a Chinese programme that has been linked to intellectual property theft in other countries, whose participants are restricted from US federal funding.

Again, none of these scientists are guiltless. At most, they turn a blind eye, but they're not stupid. They may be corrupt, but not stupid. They're getting all the funding they want and also BIG bonuses from China, and hence they look the other way, at the same time screwing the USA, UK, and much of the world.

China turned on Chloé Zhao, the Beijing-born Golden Globe winner, and censored her film after people found old interviews where she slammed China

https://www.insider.com/china-turns-on-chloe-zhao-censors-nomadland-old-critical-interviews-2021-3

She's a super talented and upcoming director! I really hope she continues to produce beautiful films, and it's really sad although not surprising, that China censors her because she said something the government doesn't like 😕

The French 13-year-old whose claim about her teacher later resulted in his beheading has admitted she lied

https://www.insider.com/french-teen-lied-teacher-beheaded-2021-3

The girl has been charged with slander, and her father and another man behind the hate campaign have been charged with "complicity in murder," Agence France-Presse reported.

I don't know how exactly "justice" will be served here, but I'm glad something is being done.

'We're going to lose fast': U.S. Air Force held a war game that started with a Chinese biological attack

https://www.yahoo.com/news/were-going-to-lose-fast-us-air-force-held-a-war-game-that-started-with-a-chinese-biological-attack-170003936.html

Inevitably, the deteriorating security of Taiwan will be a major focus of the new task force. “By the way, three of China’s standing war plans are built around a Taiwan scenario,” Hinote said. “They’re planning for this. Taiwan is what they think about all the time.”

Seems inevitable that China will invade Taiwan. Question is, what will the world do about it?

The Government has admitted for the first time that Uighurs are being targeted by China on British soil "in an effort to intimidate them into silence"...It comes after global experts last week accused the Chinese government of violating every provision in the United Nations genocide convention for its treatment of the estimated 12 million Uighurs in Xinjiang province.

More than 90 killed in Myanmar in one of bloodiest days of protests

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/27/asia/myanmar-protesters-day-of-shame-intl-hnk/index.html

"They are killing us like birds or chickens, even in our homes," said Thu Ya Zaw in the central town of Myingyan, where at least two protesters were killed. "We will keep protesting regardless... We must fight until the junta falls."

Terrible... I wonder, and I'm legitimately asking, is there something we can do to help Suu Kyi and others striving for democracy in Myanmar? Also, for the record, China blocked a UN Security Council statement condemning the coup 😕

Sadly everyone prefers cheap shit, genocide and attrocities to democratic island nations.

Nato intercepts Russian planes '10 times in a day'

Putin has to wag his lil' old penis 🙄

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-56577865

https://www.yahoo.com/news/nato-fighters-intercepted-half-dozen-195447536.html

The alliance said Monday that "Russian military aircraft often do not transmit a transponder code indicating their position and altitude, do not file a flight plan, or do not communicate with air traffic controllers, posing a potential risk to civilian airliners."

An Alliance of Autocracies? China Wants to Lead a New World Order.

“The Chinese mirror all the time,” Fallon said. “They always accuse people of Cold War thinking because I think that’s really, deep down, how they think.”

Indeed. This is Cold War 2.0 and has been for years.

The US says China is committing genocide against the Uyghurs. Here's some of the most chilling evidence.

https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/news/politics/2021/04/02/is-china-committing-genocide-what-you-need-know-uyghurs/7015211002/

The Biden administration formalized its accusations that China has engaged in "genocide and crimes against humanity" on Tuesday as part of an annual State Department human rights report. The document cites Beijing's "mass detention" of the Uyghurs, as well as evidence of forced sterilization, rape, torture and forced labor...attorneys with Essex Court Chambers, concludes there is a "credible case" that China's treatment of the Uyghur people amounts to "crimes against humanity and the crime of genocide."

There are reasons I avoid any and all products that are from China as much as possible.

How to Quickly Make Everyone Hate You, by Igor Matovič - former PM of Slovakia

https://www.yahoo.com/news/putin-critics-cite-sputnik-v-vaccine-debacle-as-attempt-to-further-divide-europe-090029655.html

Slovakia’s Prime Minister Igor Matovič, a media mogul in office for only a year who had earned a reputation as a showman while heading the anticorruption Ordinary People and Independent Personalities party, staged a press conference in front of the plane to unveil the surprise that he’d negotiated in secret with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s government: 200,000 doses of Sputnik V — with another 2 million doses on order... But there was one big problem: The contents of those crates did nothing to help Slovaks snuff out the coronavirus. Slovakia’s State Institute for Drug Control last week announced that upon inspection, the agency found that the vaccine was different from the one reviewed in the Lancet...Within days of the delivery, the Slovakian government was on the verge of collapse, Matovič was ejected from the prime minister’s seat and relations with Russia bottomed out.

Oh look, Putin wants to start a war... so what else is new?

Ukraine’s president warns that war may be coming, and vows that his nation will stand ‘to the last man.’

Now in his third decade in power, he appears more convinced than ever of his special, historic role as the father of a reborn Russian nation, fighting at home and abroad against a craven, hypocritical, morally decaying West. “This sense of superiority mixed with arrogance gives him a feeling of power, and this is dangerous,” said Tatiana Stanovaya, a Russian analyst who has studied Mr. Putin for years. “When you think you are more powerful and more wise than everyone else around you, you think you have a certain historical mandate for more wide-ranging action.” Mr. Putin has made moves in recent weeks that, even by his standards, signal an escalation in his conflict with those he perceives as enemies, foreign and domestic.

A few months ago when I was talking about this stuff, someone accused me of sounding too much like "Cold War" era talk. Yeah...

By the way, it was not a "stampede" as the media wrongfully calls it. It's more like a shock wave

Beijing’s ‘Little Blue Men’ spread across South China Sea as Britain sends strike group

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2021/05/02/beijings-little-blue-men-spread-across-south-china-sea-britain/

The militia is embedded into China's fishing fleet to intimidate and squeeze out rival South East Asian claimants to the waters...China has denied all charges, insisting the boats anchored in the area to shelter from rough seas – an excuse that has failed to placate...But he warned that a much wider strategy was also at play that would be crucial to China’s ambitions to take over the island of Taiwan, which it claims as its own.

I will be the first to admit that every country, certainly the USA, has done terrible things. That said, I honestly do not know of any country today that is as dangerous, vile, and reprehensible as China. They will do anything for their own ambition which ultimately includes invading and conquering Taiwan. They seem to think that no country will dare to fight them - and maybe they're right, or maybe they miscalculate. One thing I know, the West needs to do everything to stop support the Chinese economy.

What's happening in Israel (and in Gaza) is really horrible. Hamas is a terrorist group, indiscriminately launching rockets (powerful rockets) into Israel. For the record, Hamas rockets have also hit Arabs, since Israel's population is 20% Arab. Making a political statement... retaining power at the cost of civilian lives... thanks to Hamas innocent people on both sides of the conflict will pay the price.

Is this how they hope to remain in power? At any rate, we all know that in the end thanks to Hamas innocent people on both sides of the conflict will pay the price.

It's crazy that it is 2021 and Israel is still able to get people to believe that tired story of Hamas being thr aggressor.

What makes you think Palestine is the aggressor?
