That is not a particularly realistic goal, given how many petroleum-based (non-fuel) products exist in critical industries.

Exactly I wasn't just thinking cars and never do when it comes to oil.  It's one of the biggest backbones to all sorts of stuff, mainly a massive one, PLASTIC production.  To lose oil, even taking the combustion engine out of the picture, would be devastating.
