WATA NES Winter Games H-Seam Seal?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know if this game came with no h-seam?  I was under the impression that this only came with h-seam.

I was scrolling through the upcoming games at Heritage and noticed this upcoming auction.

The non rev-A version that was sold a couple of months ago had an H-Seam.

The upcoming rev-A version has no h-seam marked as a sealed copy?

Any explanations would be greatly appreciated. I doubt this got labeled wrong. Interested in learning that history.

The story behind this, is that soon after it's release, it was recalled because of a bug.  They fixed the bug and resealed the games without an H seam machine.  At one point Bronty was 6 games away from an entire licensed  sealed NES NTSC set and this was in the last 6.   I have owned 2 of these and still own a 80+ (on Ebay) and I have heard of 4 copies known... probably a couple more out there.

Thanks Robin!!

Thats nuts. I can only imagine how rare the h-seam version is because it would have to have survived from being recalled.

The other side of this, what are the “indicators” of an authentic re-seal?  All the normal indicators are out the window: h-seam; flap cracks, roller marks, etc...

Hopefully Bronty sees this and adds his two cents.

Is there a link somewhere with more info on this story? I haven't heard it before and am curious to know more details. Is there information on what the bug was? Does the recall also mean that these Rev-A sealed boxes have creaselines then, if the software was simply swapped? Google wasn't much help in finding answers. Thanks!
