Psychobear85 139 Member ·
I don’t know how Kanye got such a low score, crazy antics aside Kanye is a great song writer and producer. He really digs the creates to sample music parts from. Just sad how the crazy shit he does makes people doubt his musical genius.

Probably just Gen X/Millennial white dudes stuck in the 80s isn't his core demographic. Or maybe we were voting on his new album early.
Tulpa 2,852 Member ·
The overall results are actually shaping up how I expected. Especially the later ones where we don't have dra600n voting zeros for everything that isn't Metallica. Edited December 12, 2019 by Tulpa

Voting Metallica 10 is fine, I get it. Voting everything else zero because it isn't 80s thrash metal means you need to expand your Spotify playlist a little more. captmorgandrinker 1,540 Administrator ·
I thought Bruno Mars might have done a little better, and I was pleasantly surprised to see Earth, Wind and Fire as well as ELO as high as they are. The other rankings seem about right for our userbase.

I think the lowest I went was a 2 or 3.

I'm not sure how it would fare here, but I don't see any country and the pop representation seems low. I would be interested to see how Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Avril Lavigne, etc would do.

guillavoie 1,138 Events Team ·
I like your selection of bands and how you run this Reed, but what this list cruelly lacks of is bands/artists from the 60's (or even the 50's). I think the oldest band you selected is Earth, Wind and Fire which formed in 1969. Gotta gives some love to the Rock N' Roll Golden Age.

Believe me, I have been very close to doing The Beach Boys, The Four Tops, etc. But a lot of the older groups have gotten lower responses.

Doo-wop is a favorite of mine, even though I wasn't around during its heyday.

I saw the Beach Boys at Great American Ballpark. Brian Wilson is still active although I don't think I've heard any of his music on regular radio. Last thing I heard from his solo work was the song playing in Police Academy while they were chasing the skateboarders through the mall.

Briefly considered Marky Mark and Vanilla Ice.

Reed Rothchild 7,610 Editorials Team ·
...lastly, there is a small amount of personal bias to the picks. Alice In Chains, Faith No More, and Ghost are my favorite bands, while I find Lil Xan and Imagine Dragons fascinatingly awful.
