The rare one is Monty on the Run, it's a bootleg conversion of the Famicom disk game.

I found one of these years ago, and had traded it (and a conversion of Metroid) for a CIB, unassembled Mr Splash, of homebrew fame.

Extremely rare game, it's one of the conversion carts everyone seems to be missing, who collect these things.

Perhaps a silly question here, but do true bootlegs normally use real-appearing cases?  The photo you show appears to be in a legit Namco/Namcot case, which I wouldn't have thought anyone would bother with given bootleggers' propensity for using the cheapest/easiest to source stuff out there (often in a variety of rainbow colors not used on the original carts).

Naughty...the trance vibrator.  Gaming nothing, we know you're going to wire this to a battery and pop it in your bike pants for the more refreshing 10km ride ever.  Seriously nice find though.

Yeah, you caught me...that ride was amazing, btw 😉

Just showed this to a Japanese lady friend of mine last night, as well as a Japanese guy friend of hers. They were both in disbelief over the whole thing.

Only managed to get a couple things this weekend, though I might have some other goodies turning up in the next couple of weeks.

Found a third copy of the unlicensed Taiwan Mahjong game for the PlayStation. The outer box is a bit beat up though, so I'm not sure if I'll keep this one or sell it.

And since I love wasting money, I also grabbed a sealed copy of Bleem, lol.

Deep down, they were contemplating the practicality of attaching a synthetic tentacle to it so they can act out their dreams. 🙂

Just received these in the mail today:

Mario World needs no introduction. The cartridge itself isn't so terribly hard to find, though the box is very hard to find. The box had eluded me for years.

Then there's the second version of Thunderbolt II. That gives me an extra (loose copy) which I might sell.

Thunderbolt II is a vertical shooter developed by a former company near me. I'm not a shmup guy, but it generally seems to be well received for an unlicensed title.

I honestly got these at a steal price, they came from a (former) collector friend who is selling out.

Well this looks to be an alternative cover to TB2 I've never seen before! Always wondered if there was a version with the 'realistic' artwork on the box. I have the 'cartoon' version box but the manual and cart are the same as yours.

Yes, a lot of companies would just mix up parts like that when they ran out, it's weird for us but commonplace in Taiwan.

I think the "realistic" art box is harder to find, but then again, it could just be because it was sold first so the cartoon box is more recent.

I picked these up tonight from a local guy I know, reseller. He took a trip out east after his girlfriend dumped him, I think she might have been the catalyst for his greed as this time around his prices were more or less spot on.

First, a large batch of (bootleg) Chinese language version GBA games. All are brand new from the shop, maybe I should send them to Wata?

A few of the Pokemon games are hacks of the telefang games.

Then there's the famicom cart, it contains several hacks, one is a near hack of Rad Racer where the hero is skiing down a slope, set to the tune of Jingle Bells.

Then there's the Famiclones. I only wanted the green one, never saw one like this before, but was required to buy both. They seem to be a later (or even bootleg) version of the Super Giant / Bitman clones.

Nice finds. The blue Famiclone's Controllers kind of look like the Mega Drive's Controller, with the buttons from the Super Famicom's Controller. Also kind of interesting (though not surprising) that there's a jungle green Famiclone.

I honestly never saw a Famiclone of that jungle green shade before. I'm hoping that there's a whole series to collect, similar to the N64 machines.

I set out to go to visit my friend, who was going to be selling antiques at a local culture fair this weekend. Long story short, I thought I knew where the cultural fair was but I was wrong, so I decided to hit up some game shops and junk shops instead, as I slowly made my way back to my residence.

First stop was a game shop near the train station. Grabbed some Xbox games and a few 360 games.

The Xbox stuff I'm collecting for a project, as I'm trying to get all the Taiwanense Xbox releases, whereas the 360 games I thought looked, dare I say it, interesting. I might even make an attempt to get a 360 early next year for gaming...

From there I moved on to two other game shops, but both of them had nothing of interest. The one has old games, but they're in the basement, which is locked up tighter than a bull's ass, and the other shop is still charging half price of original retail for its 360-era games.

From there, I headed over to a junk shop. I found a licensed Bulbasaur plush, a licensed Tomb Raider mug, and a box of six taiwan gold medal beer glasses.

The glasses, they're great for when I host beer tastings and what not. Over the years I've given some away, so it was great to get a few more.

From there I grabbed a bite of barbecued deliciousness before heading to another nearby junk shop. It was in this last shop where I found my best finds for the day (imo), though they aren't game related.

First was this pot. I'm going to use it to store my invoice lottery receipts. I think it looks quite nice anyways.

My favourite bit was this pair of old spirits bottles though. Kin Men is an island controlled by the ROC (same guys who control Taiwan), they're known for their strong spirits. I thought these bottles look awesome, even if they were empty.

Went to a few more places today and closed out the weekend with these goodies.

Started off with some bootleg Mega Drive games. Beauty and the Beast is in the best of condition out of this set, the others have some water damage to the boxes. I grabbed a few other titles too, but I need to double check if I need them or not.

For Mega Drive, I decided to collect bootlegs of the US/Euro exclusives, but they must be from the time period (no modern day versions), and they also must be boxed. I figured this is a fun way to add the western exclusives to my library, in addition to the legit Japanese games I have.

I also found two more Chinese language version GBA games. I enjoy collecting these, there were also a lot of Sega Mega Drive games translated into Chinese.

From a historical perspective, these are quite interesting. Modern Switch games and even console games come in a million languages for licensed products, making these sorts of bootlegs something that we just won't see anymore.

Then there's a PlayStation gold finger cheat device, and a USB PlayStation 2 gun.

More interesting though is the Crazy Hit game with controller. It's an unlicensed game made by UFO for the PlayStation, and it came bundled with a whac-a-mole style controller, somewhat reminiscent of the one Realtec did on Sega.

Finally, I picked up this Dream Mahjong "thing". It seems to be a game, but I'm not entirely sure. There was a second item with a similarly ... Interesting box, though I left it sit, as it seemed to 100% be just a porn vcd. I'm all for collecting (and possibly preserving) old, bad Taiwanense porno mahjong games, but that's where I draw the line, I actually don't want a bunch of porn videos lying around my apartment. While we're at it though, anyone care to guess at the nationality of the people on the cover?

We ever seen the entire hoard?  I imagine  that room is like 5 layers deep with stuff by now.

Yeah, there's definitely stuff floating about in other storage areas, in totes, etc. Sometimes it can be annoying if I get a duplicate and want to see if I should upgrade or not.

I'm due for another spring cleaning at some point.
