In quest/rpg sorts of games, what kind of girl main party characters do you like best? Cute ones, Disney Princess ones, sexy ones...?

Just for clarification, only female characters in the main playable party of the quest/rpg count.  Not NPCs, not guest characters.

So as you guys might know, I personally always thought female characters in rpq/quest sorts of games were the more interesting ones...and this may sound stupid to say, but it's the main reason why I'm not so sure about FF15, but I digress.  And the latest RPG I've been doing, Dragon Quest 11, has a nice combo pack of one of each of the big three categories:

Cute chicks - With Veronica, it's not just her looks (braids, red riding hood getup) but her actions/catchphrases too that are cute, like "Ezzy Peezzy!", "Hey, listen!" (yes just like Navi) and how when she does a black magic/offense spell she'll say something like "Taaaake this!!" and even does that big kiss sound, like how Bugs Bunny would do it.  Other examples of cute chicks in RPGs are Krile (FF5, well the sprite version anyway), Rikku (FF10), Bianca (DQ5), Eiko (FF9)

Disney princess chicks - With Serena, she fits the Disney Princess type (very ladylike and feminine) perfectly, both looks and demeanor.  This is especially true when she gets her later outfits (and DQ11's school uniforms are nice and classy, not all slutty looking like in that Brittney Spears video 😛 )  Other examples include Nera/Flora (DQ5; the one I chose to marry in that game), Yuna (FF10), Garnet (FF9), Aeris (FF7), Colette (Tales of Symphonia)

Sexy chicks - Obviously Jade would be in this category for DQ11.  Other examples would be Jessica (DQ8), Debora (DQ5), Tifa (FF7), Lulu (FF10)

Warrior princess chicks - I guess the one that'd most fit this is the first ever female quarterback (lead character) in a major RPG, from the first Phantasy Star.  Another very notable example would be Ashe (FF12).

Of course there can be other types or even hybrids of the above; Tales of Phantasia being a perfect example of the latter.  While both girls are cute in terms of looks (I'm going by SNES version only), Mint is every bit the Disney Princess type while Arche is, well...um....

And on a related note, we can even bring back the which bride did you choose in Dragon Quest 5 and why, if you'd like 🙂

I liked Yuffie in FFVII simply because she was ranged and my go to other members were Cloud, Red XIII and/or Cid

FFIX Eiko for better white magic/healing and Freya because she was just awesome lol (rounded out with Zidane ofc and usually Steiner)

If it counts, go to partner in Paper Mario TTYD was Gimbella simply because she had the ability to just give her turn to Mario for maximum jump spammage.

I can't honestly think of a time that I went with a female character in a game simply because they were cuter or w/e. Almost purely for mechanical/utility/balance reasons as far as the setup I was going for lol

This. But if I had to pick a favorite RPG lady, it's probably Elly of Xenogears.

I agree about Yuna, Rikki, and Lulu.  They are all great.  That games still looks good after all these years.

More recently Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had Pyra, Mythra, Morag, and all those blade.  Had a lot of fun with that game.  Probably put in 140 hours.

I have certainly selected characters based on look over skill. Ran around with Piper in Fallout 4 the whole time and didn't bother trying others.  Sure I have done similar for other games.

All of them should be cute, giggly, upbeat, and totally into the main character (me.). Then to complete my high school fantasy, I get to be the one to reject them.

Then in DQ5 you probably married Nera/Flora right?  I mean she loves calling you sweetie and such 🙂  That is if you don't mind a woman who needs your protection.  And in the SNES version she looks off the charts adorable in her little bride outfit 🙂  A lot of people though don't understand why the groom is just in his regular clothes and not in a tux or something.  As for Debora, she is no doubt quite sexy and I'm sure very much a *wink wink* behind closed doors...but is it really worth all that hen pecking? 😞

Yes she's a main character to choose from the start, so is this very little covered meaty female warrior too, but the witch well she's overflowing enough to make Capcom's Morrigan jealous.

Oooooooh 🙂

As you guys know, I had made another topic at NA regarding the choice of brides in DQ5...now as sexy as Debora may be and even if she does indeed eh, *bleep* like a tiger...be honest, would any of you think it'd really be honest to goodness be worth all this hen pecking? 😞

I'd much rather have someone like Nera/Flora who is really sweet and kind and calls me cute things like sweetie and darling 🙂  As for the children, isn't it interesting how the Son says that "you [dad] look a bunch like me, don't you?" when as one YTer said and as you can clearly see from their artwork versions, it's obvious where both kids really get their looks/apperance from.

And here's how she is/looks in the SNES version; this is of course the version I did first and I had my wife help me pick my bride because I couldn't decide...I guess we both thought Flora/Nera looked more feminine and attractive.  And look at how off the charts adorable she looks in her little bridal outfit 🙂  But what were they doing in twin beds, what are they like some 50s sitcom or something? 😛  And what is up with her standing on top of her bed?

In general, I really like playing with fast female characters, but Ive never thought about that when it comes to rpgs. I guess thats cause sometimes  the rpg games Ive played didn't allow me to choose characters. Anyway, here's some rpg ladies I really enjoyed:

Bleu / Deis (Breath of Fire)

Rose (Legend of Dragoon)

Xelha (Baten Kaitos)

I guess Im more into the badass or exotic kind of characters. Among the more "popular" ones, I also like Final Fantasy X-2's Rikku, cause she's kinda funny.

Um... I don't usually pick a favorite female character based on what archetype she falls into. Just which ones I find compelling. My favorite female main character would probably be Presea from Tales of Symphonia. Such a tragic and layered character.

If I had to pick an archetype to choose a favorite character, it would be the "strong woman" type. Someone like Rose from Zestiria, or Rita from Vesperia, or Celes from FF6.

Colette (the first main female protagonist) has one of my own main personally traits...she says "sorry" way too much 😛   Say should I at some point pick up the PS3 of ToS, or is the GC version good enough?  I do like how not only there's a proper casino (my favorite DQ feature) in the PS3 version but apparently your character's Luck stat as well as equipping lucky Rabbit's Feet actually counts towards that end?  They sure weren't lucky for the rabbits though! 😄

Never played the ps3 version(though I do have it). The GC version has always been good enough for me, if only because the GC controller is my favorite of all time and cel shaded graphics still hold up nicely.

Side note: I love Midna from twilight princess. Great character!

Quest/RPG 😛

If Zelda doesn't qualify as a quest game, what does?

Oh yeah; I stand corrected.  Though I meant games where you play as a team/party rather than as an individual though.  Honestly I was kinda being a smart aleck 😄

I think I'll go with the two main chicks (Marle and Lucca) in CT thank you; BTW, best...RPG character...theme...ever 🙂

And while we're on the subject of chicks with glasses, I honestly think DQ11's Queen Frysabel looks off the charts adorable in glasses (and nice homage to DQ5's Bianca's hairdo!) 🙂
