Also, if any PC watchdogs noticed my trend of picking movies that were made by white males, starting white males, trust me when I say it is hard selecting movies that resonate with the audience of mostly white males that make up this board that DON'T mostly trend that way

Also, I scratched my suggestion for Hook. I vote The Death of Stalin. Worth a watch if you've not seen it and a good film worth discussing.

I've only seen like 1/5th of it, might watch it by myself one of these days.

Donnie Darko is good, I wish it had better acting, it would be a killer movie otherwise, story is a little weird but in a good way, setting is fantastic and music as well, it's just the acting that I find very cheesy at times.

Since you got me thinking about movies with surreal elements I nominate my favorite, Mulholland Dr.

I would be one of those. Gummo is weird surrealist trash. It is a movie you feel dirty after watching. 

On topic, @RH nailed it. Donny Darko was for the emos. It is well made though. 4/10
