That's exactly what they do (and what the 80GB PS3 did) with using the game disc as just a key to play the digital version. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult to get the game to play off the disc itself, but who knows. I also think we old system game keepers are an anomaly amongst the game buying crew in general, as I don't know many of my casual gamer friends to keep anything from a system more than a generation old unless it's for the kids.
