You only get the good ending on expert, but you still go through the whole game no matter what difficulty you play on. Plus, I can't even get past the first stage on expert. If it does matter, then I guess I'll just go for Dragon Spirit instead. Difficulty doesn't matter, unless it's one of those rare games which doesn't let you play the full game on easier settings - Dragon Spirit is actually one of them.
Jaden | 151
Yeah, the gold dragon mode skips a few levels. I've gotten pretty close to beating the game with the blue dragon, but that last level is pretty brutal. Maybe I'll finish that one for this site someday. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up. I'll probably practice a bunch more tonight and maybe finish a run of it tomorrow.
Kid Dracula | 126
Gonna join in the fun here for the inaugural completions thread on VGS! Finished off Super C. A quick easy one, but it gets the ball rolling.

Kid Dracula | 126
Since there is no Gradius II on this list I did the next closest thing. Life Force has been defeated.

Kid Dracula | 126
I just took down M.U.S.C.L.E. It's a super easy game. I assume nobody wants to ever try it as its gameplay is admittedly poor. It has some nostalgia value for me as it was on our 31 in 1 multicart our family had growing up.
Kid Dracula | 126
Journey to Silius is a super fun game. One of Sunsoft's finest efforts with a soundtrack that can't be missed. Would have been interesting if it ended up being a Terminator game as was originally intended. It can be crossed off the list.
mbd39 | 2,017
RoadBlasters is done. It took a few tries because of the high difficulty of stage 49.

scaryice | 582
I beat Spelunker. I would have a photo, but the power brick fell out literally one second after I got to the end (lucky). EDIT: Looks like Roadblasters and Super Spike V'Ball are the first two games beaten with bonus points (1 each). Kid Dracula | 126
Original Nintendo Baseball down. After I secured an 11-0 lead after the 1st inning I felt pretty confident. Pretty bad game but again nostalgic for me as it was game #15 of the classic multicart 31 in 1 which was common in Atlantic Canada and East Coast States. Jaden | 151
Gun-Nac is done. I played the game on novice mode because I didn't want to spend a long time getting stuck on normal mode. You still go through all eight levels, no matter what difficulty you play. Basically, I wanted to actually finish the game. Maybe someday I'll do a run on normal mode. Gaia Gensouki | 1,067
I re-beat Ikari Warriors II. Somehow I was struggling even more this time, even though I now know the game pretty well. But I constantly did some stupid mistakes, that ended my run, or I struggled with Joycon drift. Joycons are just terrible for these old games so I finally gave in and bought a Pro Controller. It was an amazing feeling holding such a good controller in my hands and I beat the damn game on my first run with it. But now I'm sick of IW II and will probably never touch it again for a long, long time.
bronzeshield | 293
Overlord is done: Has any game in the NES library fallen more precipitously, in terms of its perceived difficulty? What used to be seen as one of the toughest games on the NES is now a 5-minute clear. I wonder if the designers foresaw any of this.
Gaia Gensouki | 1,067
Guerilla War is done too. It would be an extremely tough game if it wasn't for the unlimited continues. Thanks to them it was easily possible for me to beat this game, but it still felt a bit like a repetitive slog. At least the game was technically much better than Ikari Warriors I and II. T-Pac | 7,514 Graphics Team ·
Bucky O'Hare is completed! My cartridge is the PAL version, but I'm not aware of any regional differences from the NTSC release. I really love the way progression works in this game - how each level has its own password and is broken into a series of challenging gauntlets. The controls are spot on, every selectable character is useful, and the unlimited continues encourage you to keep trucking through to the end. -CasualCart
