It's a no TM 5 screw cartridge and there wasn't a Famicom adapter inside. How do you know its a first print, because you have the right box? No, it's a no TM 5 screw. I said it's a first print cartridge, not a first print box. Single print runs of cartridges can span multiple print runs of boxes. guitarzombie | 924
Hmm I gotta check label variations then, that'll make it a bit easier.
FooFghtrs33 | 16
This is from my matte sticker CIB game. NES No TM, 5 Screw, Title TM I also have others that I could open up if people were interested. like pinball w/ famicom adapter, or most of those black box sticker games which I verified to match the correct box. guitarzombie | 924
OH! Nice!! Thats what I was expecting to see. Although the 5K3 might be hard to read, the 5 means 85 but cant tell what week. Awesome. Also good to see it has the first NROM revision 01. BTW the 41st week of 1985 is Oct 7 to 13th 1985. That's Oct 21 to 27th 1985 which is the latest chip.
guitarzombie | 924
Oooh ok, so I think that settles it then. Thanks for the assist DEF. So I think we can say SMB was not released on Oct 18th, but probably very shortly after. Like the first week of November at BEST.

Actually Foos could you show us some others? I think it'll give a good cross section for dates. Maybe its possible that Oct 18 was the 'official' date but the games didn't really roll out till early Nov.

themisfit138 | 523
Here is my 5 screw Ice Climbers. It looks to be a similar date to the ‘85 SMB.
guitarzombie | 924
It does, but it was printed earlier than SMB. Def in time for Oct 85. Also whats interesting is the graphics chip is different from the famicom version. The program data is the same as the famicom version (Its code is HVC) but looks like they had to change the graphics for US audiences as it has the US stamp on it (NES). I think this will help out a lot, as it'll be easier to pin some of these release date possibilities down. Just glancing I think we can make an assumption that any Gyros, Hogans Alleys, Pinballs and Wild Gunmans with adapters are all first print or first releases. Same with Stack Up as every copy has a converter and was never reprinted. I could have sworn i've seen a Duck Hunt with a converter though. That Duck Hunts date also looks like it was printed a bit after Oct 18th. I wonder if that game was also in conjunction with SMB as well.
Goodvibes | 158
Hello all, I finally got around to opening the smb cart from my gloss sticker seal box. I picked it up a few years ago locally along with a few others in a bundle. Cart originally came in the box but I had to source a manual to make it complete. Here’s a couple pictures of the board. 1 1
Goodvibes | 158
I also have a fourth print box I believe, here’s the pictures from that cart. If someone could help me decipher it I would appreciate it. Based on the numbers and such I’m not sure it’s correct for a fourth print box. 1
austin532 | 467
Uh...that's a huge discovery. 8539 (October 1985) means it's pretty much a launch title. Your other one is October 1986 Week 4.
Goodvibes | 158
Nice, pretty sweet! Thanks for confirming on the second cart also. Can anyone confirm if that might be correct for a fourth print box?
