arch_8ngel 1,597 Member ·
I had a chance to try these goggles at a tradeshow recently, and they are something else... Currently a fairly steep price of entry ($9,995) for the Augmented Reality goggles, and "only" $5k for the VR version. The name is pronounced "Var-io" for the variable resolution concept -- basically there is a larger outer image and a super-tight-pixel-density inner image that makes the entire scene feel like it is at a MUCH higher resolution. Seeing your own hands and a partially physical scene through the cameras combined with virtual imagery is really wild, and mildly unsettling (your hands are really your hands, as it is a camera image, but they are slightly grainy). The latency is worlds better than anything else on the market. If you find yourself with a chance to try a demo of these goggles, it is worth the wait in line to see what the virtual future is going to look like.
