Halloween 2024

I beat the Silent Hill 2 Remake two nights ago and started a New Game+ to wrap up some trophies. I urge everyone with a PS5 or PC to play it. It's masterfully done.

Also, if anyone is looking for a new scary game to play, check out Madison. It's legitimately the scariest game I've ever played, and I've played a lot.

Last week was MacVenture week and I managed to finish both Shadowgate and the new sequel Beyond Shadowgate as well as put some time into (but not complete) Uninvited. Beyond Shadowgate was an absolute blast. 35 years in the making and it did not disappoint.

Since It was on my 2024 backlog anyway, I decided this week was a good time to finally play Luigi's Mansion 3. This is the first game in the series that I've tried and it's pretty fun. I think I'm just over halfway through it and gonna try to power through the rest today and tomorrow.

Other than that, I've also booted up Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed again and been enjoying that.

Finally, I always try to sneak at least a little time in with the Castlevania series. Before the day is done, I intend to fire up Super IV for at least a few stages.

Never heard of this one but looks interesting. I'll have to check it out.

If you're into scary/disturbing games, check out Faith: The Unholy Trinity if you haven't already.

I'm not sure if I'm going to have time to play a game today, as I'm probably going to spend almost the entire afternoon carving a Pumpkin and then watch horror movies in the evening.

If I do have time to play a game, I don't know...maybe I'll play Luigi's Mansion.

Just purchased a physical copy.  We've got some similar tastes based on your interview with @Splain.  So it better not disappoint. 😒🔪

Me and a friend of mine played the SH2 Remake as well earlier this month, first time either of us had ever played any of the Silent Hill games. I knew a good bit about SH2 going in to it, friend knew almost nothing, really really incredible experience. Looking back at clips and gameplay from the original game, I can easily see why it's held in such high regard amongst survival horror games, and the Remake drawing more people's attention to it is awesome.

I hung around the clocktower a lot jamming to this tune.   That is I think the best soundtrack on the system.  Not a bad tune among them.  First time I encountered that first boss was crazy.   Was the first Castlevania I‘d really played.  I spent so much time wandering aimlessly playing with the different weapons and stuff.

The Castlevania franchise in general has some of the best OSTs of all time IMO. I was introduced to the series with Dracula X on the SNES when I was really really young, one of the first games I remember ever playing, and I still remember how blown away I was at the music in the first stage of that game, Divine Bloodlines. Was the first time I remember ever truly just sitting back and appreciating a song from a video game, I'd say you could trace back my love of video game music to that moment I first booted up Dracula X.

(I also remember the first boss scaring the shit out of me when I first encountered it, haha)

Possibly my favorite track from Dracula X is its version of Beginning though. Something about it has always sounded so atmospheric to me, especially the start with the percussion slowly fading in. Always loved this track ever since I first managed to actually make it to this point in the game. This is the music that plays during this game's clocktower stage, and when I was a kid playing the game, I always imagined that percussion fading in at the beginning being all the clockwork throughout the stage slowly revving up as you first started the level, which made the vibe of it all even better.

But anyway that's enough about Dracula X's OST, haha.
