Fillrup | 13
Hi, Wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the Guild Wars Eye of the North [Pre-release Bonus pack] for the PC. I picked this up on a game lot sale and when I was checking the price on pricecharting and then on ebay, it appears if the code included is unused it can be worth quite a bit of money. The code that I have appears to not have been opened but didn't know if there was another way to authenticate it.
Tanooki | 5,142
I used to play that game religiously for years with my friend who passed now around a decade ago. I do remember there was no good code look up, no tool either, unless at some early point the NCSOFT website did it. I would suggest a bit of emailing to the company. Tell them you have this new but opened package as you were told by the old owner, say you want to gift it for Christmas to a friend, but want to be sure the code was never used and ask if they could check the code (supply it on the email to save a step) and see if it has been ever authenticated. If they write back that it can be used, you win. It couldn't hurt to try as the alternative is using it and well, womp womp no value.

Fillrup | 13
I just submitted a ticket with them. Here's to hoping it's still active.
Fillrup | 13
Unfortunately, they cannot check to see if the code is still active unless I have the original receipt of purchase.

Well, the other side to this issue is even if it weren't used, I don't really like selling game codes and, typically, I only sell codes I got for cheap/free and for no more than $10. You can do your due diligence to prove a code isn't used for a game, and all the buyer has to do after entering it is log out and lie saying it didn't work and, I'd imagine, all payment processors would refund them their money. If I had a high-dollar DLC code that I wasn't sure of, I'd have to make the terms cash-only, local pick-up only and you can attempt to redeem it in front of me so that, if in fact, it doesn't work then I'll feel fine refunding that too you. But it's a DLC. I can't think of any DLC worth that. I didn't check. What would this be worth? Edited September 19 by RH
Fillrup | 13
Those are great points regarding pickup only due to someone claiming the code isn't valid. The prerelease is showing quite a bit in regards of price per pricecharting. Edited September 19 by Fillrup
